I have a similar problem, BD1 won’t scan. I’m on Summit Ridge, and BD1 wants to scan one of the floating grapple points, which will clearly give me the ability to grapple to them, but the scan prompt is missing. I have fast travelled away and back, restarted both the game and my console several times and tried another controller, nothing works. This has happened once before, but as it was just an ordinary object, I just moved on. If I can’t make this scan, large areas of the map, will be inaccessible to me.Please fix it.
I have now found out that BD1 not being able to scan the balloon grappling ability on Summit Ridge is game breaking. I went on the next mission, on the Shattered Moon, and need the balloon grappling ability to complete it. So I cannot progress any further in the game! Please fix it!
@Angedelabime69 Im also having the same problem, i tried uninstalling and reinstalling and even that didnt work

Tried that as well. Also just tried putting all BD-1s customizeables back to default except for colors and that didn’t change it either.
Summit ridge floating grapple is apart of the main quest line, it allows you to access the second array.
That's not where you learn the ability. When you reach the point where you interact with the console and the balloons pop up on the shattered moon while pursuing Rayvis there is a broken window down and to the left. You go through there solve some puzzles and eventually you'll fine a work bench in a small circular room. Interact with it and that's when you learn the balloon grapple. You can then go back up and use it to get to him.
