I'm at least 6 attempts to get through, and it continues to crash when i'm using BD to zoom in during the initial cutscene.

Check it. The game stopped crashing after I processed the windows 11 may 2023 cumulative update. FYI.
I check for updates every other time i use this rig so had that cumulative update installed long before this patch came live, at least some companies thoroughly bug test their games before release.... <cough> Blizzard.....
