Re: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION Master Thread

Game: Jedi Survivor

Platform: EA App

System Specs: Ryzen 9 7900x, RX 6950 XT

Graphics Drivers (AMD Adrenalin) Version: 23.4.3

Error: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION

Getting this error a lot, with the game consistently unplayable and crashing within 5-10 minutes of play. Have tried the usual solutions, like uninstall/reinstall and repair local files. Wondering if this is on the list of bugs the team is working on, or if there is a simple fix on my end. Thought this seemed like a driver issue, but I have the most up to date drivers from AMD. Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  • Error Specifically: Unhandled Exception: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION reading address 0xffffffffffffffff
  • Having the exact same issue. Launch the game get through about 5-10 minutes of game play and the game crashes with the same error: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION.

Reading address was different each time. First one was the max hexademical number reading address 0xffffffffffffffff and the most recent one was 0x000000001d98622c. Don't think it matters but figured I'd include it.

Been doing it to me for weeks and getting 0xffffffffffffffff has my error code but if you have an NVidia card I found that if you back track your driver by about 4 updates before then it will let you play at least an hour with no crash and at least you will get past the beginning lvl which I was stuck on for has the game said 6 hours of play with handcuffs on till i did that and finally got to get of planet but graphics will suck a bit

Anyone know what this code is cause I have googled with no luck, reinstalled clean windows and reinstalled game to get this code after 20 to 45 min.

I can only play that long if I install older driver which windows installs but graphics look bad or install new driver and get 5-10 min before crash and always before I can get to safe point.

    Hi,

    This is my setup:

    CPU: Intel 7i 12700K

Mobo: MSI MAG Z690 Tomahawk Wifi DDR4

    RAM: 32 Gb DDR4

GPU: Nvidia ASUS TUF RTX 3080 V2 OC 10 Gb  VDDR6

Storage: Two Samsung 980 ssd M.2 Nvme PCiex gen4

I had this problem always with 10 to 15 min. after to start the game, I updated the GPu´s drivers, the VCdist C++ libreries , the DirectX libreries, and nothing achieved to resolve this behavior.

All of the crash reports were associated to memory direcctions or memory management with differents codification.

In a youtube video, I saw a recomendation about to desable the XMP memory management on the motherboard bios, and I tried it. After that, I have played the game for 5 hr at least without the former low level crash.

Spite to I don´t have ram memory management optimization (XMP:disabled), the game is running with kind of stability with all setting in epic.

I hope this solution will be able usefull some of you.

    Bye

  • Highly suspect in my case it is system instability.

Despite literally weeks of stress testing my new rig with every memory test out there overnight I was never getting a single error.

Normally the game crashes after a couple hours randomly. There is no repeatable condition besides give it 2-3 hours and it crashes anywhere it seems. No thermal issues. I monitor it and it never comes close to hitting anything high on any components

Anyway. I turned off expo and any hint of any beyond barebones stock JDEC settings and no curve optimizer on the CPU or anything. PBO not even turned on. Left the game on overnight and amazingly it never crashed. I made sure I stood in the same spot where the last crash occurred too even though I doubt it matters.

My settings are 4k epic everything. No FSR and Ray tracing on.

Soooo this game is the ultimate system stability test I guess. Its the only thing that seems to throw errors. Congrats EA. I will always use this game as my standard for system stability going forward. Jokes aside, doesn't really appear to be EAs fault.

Guess I still haven't completed my journey towards system stability yet. Back to the drawing board I go.

    Systems specs:

    Amd 7950x3d

    DDR5 6000 CL30 64GB expo Ram kit

    X670e chipset

    rtx 4090

For those thinking its windows or a driver. I really don't think so. Probably try running barebones JDEC spec on your RAM and seeing if it solves it. If so then you have tuning to do. I had tried reinstalling windows 11 myself before trying that and it didn't help. I tried about 700 other things as well. Anti-virus off, overlays off, repairing windows 15 different ways. None of it mattered.

    Ryzen 5 1600 and MB Gigabyte B550 Gaming X

    RTX 3060

    Windows 10

    EA App

I finished the 1st chapter on Corusant, and i was blocked on Koboh. And i had a dozen crashes like this, anywhere and anytime . I test every thinks :

-Changed every graphic option, screen resolution and screen mod.

-Launched with "Run as Administrator" and "disable fullscreen optimization"

-Disabled video card and apps overlays

-Updated Nvidia drivers, Mothercard drivers update.

-Reinstalled/Updated EA App and cleaned cache.

-Reinstalled Jedi Survivor and Repair files.

    -Windows repair with SFC /scannow

    -Disable every services on Windows

Nothing works, and this game crash and crash, again and again...

  • @T1T4N Updating motherboard drivers and cleanup utility from NVIDIA + reinstalling GPU drivers did the trick for me.
I had version F2 motherboard drivers and most recent is F8a.

Been playing for many hours and not a single crash.

I’ve seen a solution that helped me a bit before I updated drivers which is installing DirectX from Jedi Survivor folder.

    Good luck!
