I have found a solution. I might not be able to explain it eloquently here (my dad found the fix), but it turns out I needed to update the graphics driver. I had a fairly new version (400-ish), but the game needed the newest (500-ish) version. Downloaded the new driver from Nvidia, and everything looks good now

    I'd already updated the graphics driver as much as I could when it didn't work originally, but you inspired me to just update to windows 11( I'd been putting that off). And now it works. Thanks.
