Where is patch 9?

Is there another patch coming for PS5 and Xbox Series X? Patch 8 was released on the 8th of January 2024 and no indication seems to been have given about the release of another patch. Performance on consoles seems to be better compared to the unacceptable performance on PC, however bugs/glitches and poor visual quality seem to be present. I recently purchased the game for PS5 but am yet to open it and plan to return it after substantial research allowed me to see all the issues with the game even after after 11 months of its release.

Digital Foundry has highlighted as late as two months ago how the game is still completely broken on PC and labeled it the worst PC port of 2023.The fact the game was released in an unplayable state for a triple A game price was appalling. The length of time it took for EA and Respawn to deploy patches was unbelievably long considering the size Respawn Entertainment and EA being a multi million publisher, the patches also seemed to do little. It took four months for the performance mode to receive a substantial improvement in its fps but the only change is this patch seemed to be disabling ray tracing on consoles, why would that take four months?

The fact that we have to request information on when the next patch will be deployed so the game can be playable is beyond frustrating and a vast contrast between the conduct of other game Studios such as Santa Moniac.

I would recommend people on all platforms to stay away from the game until a substantial and well crafted patch 9 is published.

@ArthurMorgan1222 I've been asking the same question since forever, but no answer. A lot of new issues were introduced in patch 7, and none of them were fixed since then. Patch 8 in january was a big update, but as it turned out, it did nothing but adding new accessibility features.

SteamDB shows that the devs didn't even touch the game since january:

In my opinion, there is a good chance that the devs have let go of the game and won't release further updates. Maybe one in May (for Star Wars day) but I wouldn't hold my breath at this point.

The game is playable tho, enjoyable even (just don't play in Performance Mode, it is a mess), but yeah, there are BIG issues present, and chances are that they are here to stay...

My game works stably. No crashes, no sound stutters. Completed the game in a month with 100% exploration of planets. The only thing that doesn't work is the Steam overlay, the achievements appear without animation, you can see them when the game exits or via alt+tab.

  • achievements don't work though , neither do controllers and for a lot of people the game barley works , its not stable at all lmao its a 70 dollar game that doesnt have functioning controller support or achievements

It looks like the devs started working again, so I'm guessing that a new patch is coming shortly.

My guess is that they are adding the battle grid from Fallen Order to the game, but heres hope that we also get ACTUAL FIXES now, because the game is still in a catastrophic state at certain points.

  • I can't play this game on PC because it crashes after a few minutes.
I contacted support and they said I will be contacted when they have a solution to the problem.
It's incredible that more than a year after its release the game is in this state.
EA and Respawn are behaving unfairly towards their customers who have paid a high price for their product which is evidently BROKEN.
This is how customer trust is at stake, other products are in a sorry state (not like this one) and the patches are slow in arriving.
If they continue like this they might as well close.

  • Still nothing :-( Playing it on PS5 and there are still some flickering white textures and sometimes fps drops...
