The black screen is tied to the video drivers, now the intel is the base for handing over to the NVidia card.
what occurs when you start up the game and get the black screen if you press ALT + Enter keys (swaps to window mode) does it come good on its own ?
This driver here appears to be the latest intel video driver for the integrated 4400 you have
Note the known issues even for the latest driver ( this doesn't affect the Nvidia driver though ).

ARRGH! The intel driver is probably the culprit. Now to send a ticket to Windows.
Thanks so much for the effort, but I'm honestly unsure of what more I can ask or you can help with. (Not to doubt your abilities of course, but my drivers seem adamant to make life difficult...)
What would you recommend I list as the issue with my driver for this specific occurrence? (ie. What the hell do I say is wrong with my driver)
Thanks, bro/brah

Fresh driver installs is always the first step with this sort of issue that will be asked, it may be that asus support may be able to help
if you have the latest intel and NVidia drivers handy for install , use say DDU to completely go back to vanilla drivers, install the intel , reboot and then install the Nvidia driver.
don't forget to set the NVidia as preferred again.
