cancelling character rename consumes the token

So I recently bought a 1000cc consumable which I wanted to use to rename my character, but when I cancelled the rename, since the name I wanted to pick was already chosen by another character of mine, I logged out and deleted the character which had the name I wanted. I log back in and the consumable item is nowhere to be found and all what happened was that I wasted 1000cc on nothing except the removal of another character of mine.

I then scanned through the forums for a solution and was told to send an in-game "Item Restoration Ticket", but that seems to be a premium feature only.
Is there a way to get my token back or have I been scammed by the system?
