Does Steam own Bioware, EA Games?

Some time ago, while playing SW:TOR, there was news of a gaming company either merging or buying other game companies. A short time after Steam started hosting SW:TOR. Does anyone know what happened?

Not sure of what news that would be. Could have been a rumor. Bioware is a subsidiary of EA and has been since like 2007 I believe so they are part of EA and not a stand alone company.
