It didn't get flagged. That's the issue.
I transferred all my characters and not one of them needed a rename. I even RAN AROUND on my main (which is the one who's name I'm having issues with) on the NEW server.
I come back 5 days later and my two Jedi are flagged for rename.
And when I go to pick the name I had it says "Invalid name". It's been ages since beta, but I'm pretty sure it actually said if the name was taken. And "Invalid" was for names like "Luke", "Vader", and other names that were found in the Star Wars movies.
Ahh ok
copyright issues wont be confined to star wars movies, so if I had a character named clark kent for example it would be flagged for rename.
not sure why they flagged your characters, other people online would of most likely reported it though for it to be brought to there attention and be flagged (what ever that reason is).

I think only the Star Wars names were 'hard coded' into the Name Validation System, along with swear words. But stuff like "Clark Kent" would probably require a human intervention to flag. And even then it'd be hard...unless the Legacy name was "Kent".
Seeing as other's have had their character names flagged for rename after transferring, I'm thinking it's a bug...so hopefully THIS TIME the CS Ticket will get an actual human response.

It has been a while since I have seen issues with renaming , there was a bug that did occur in that the rename wouldn't take and it kept flagging for rename no matter how many times the character was renamed, maybe it has resurfaced again.
Is this what is occurring ?

Not sure, but the forum post I linked to is dated this month (November 2015).
The fact I can't use the names on the server, but can still use them on another server (still haven't had it flagged for rename). Leads me to believe it was caused by the transfer.
..fact that it happened on my only two Jedi makes me worry though. I do remember them saying you should use names that you'd find in the Star Wars universe. But I figured names like "Malassin" weren't standard names like "Eric" or "John" ( Jedi Sage Malassin Kade [got a nice ring to it] ), and so would qualify as "Star Wars-y" names. -- I hope this is still the case.
