Understood. On Tuesday my group meets to raid, so I'll know more then as to if it's better in group content.
It's just confusing as I've seen some people's streams/videos and it's as smooth as silk. I guess not so much in pvp, but certainly raids. I feel as though my pc should be up to spec to run an eight year old game. I understand why, just frustrating, I guess.
Either way, thanks so much for your help, proxos666.
So the issue is your getting stutter ?
play in fullscreen (window) mode see if that helps ?

Yeah, I am getting just stuttering jarring lag. I regularly play in full screen (windowed)

This might seem a bit weird but if your using win 10. go to fullscreen and enable vsync then switch to fullscreen (window) is the stutter any better ?
edit - see fix #1 in this thread that is also worth testing http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=568911

The stutter did improve when I turned on Vsync, but the addition of Bandicam seemingly did nothing.

The only location that is common no matter where you install the game files is in the below location
Press the [Windows] Key + [R] at the same time
Copy the following in to the text box and press ok
%localappdata%\swtor\swtor\settings
If you want to delete the settings folder just in case there is something odd , it will autocreate on the next launch , if you have any custom UI profiles save the GUIProfile folder as they can be copied back after
Other then that now sure what else to suggest i am afraid
