How is the game responding now ? 

Check windows update for any optional updates as well , just in case the root certificates havent been updated

Then Try the swtor repair utility next just to be sure launcher files are good

windows update shows all updated, and used the LauncherRepairUtilityD2.0.1 and msg still shows up as certificate authentication failed ☹️

Back to swtor side of things 

if you press the windows key and type internet options open this up and on the content tab select publishers , check if anything is listed in untrusted publishers , this is where all the certificates live

no untrusted listed

What antivirus and firewall is used ?

only using windows defender

The date and time in the bios is correct ? I can see the OS side is ok but it can be possible for the BIOS to be wrong.

i looked at that earlyer it seemed to be correct

I will flag your issue with Swtor CS as well , they wont be back here until Monday though

I will keep thinking on this very odd, most windows certificate issues are due to date time usually the year is way wrong.

Windows 10 fully updated shouldn't have any expired certificates.

I really appreciate all the help, i'll keep an eye on this thread.  I never had an issue until 5.0 came out.

Jut to be sure the user profile is ok 

As a test can you create a new administrator user and login on that windows profile and see if it behaves the same.

Can delete this user account later its just to test with

1. From the Start menu, navigate to Settings.
    
2. Select Accounts.
3. In the left menu, select Family & other users.
4. Click Add someone else to this PC.
5. Choose whether to create a Microsoft account or a local account.

   To create a local account:

   1. At the bottom, click I don't have this person's sign-in information.
   2. Click Add a user without a Microsoft account.
   3. Enter a username and, if desired, a password.

☹️ same msg about the cert.

Also i've completely un-installed swtor, and then tried to install it again, and won't even get past that certificate msg.

Just to try something left field this will source the roots certificates currently on windows update and then we will manually install them.

open a command prompt as administrator and copy and paste this command 

certutil.exe -generateSSTFromWU roots.sst

it will take about 30 seconds to complete but dont panic you will know when it is done it will display the below

Updated SST file.
CertUtil: -generateSSTFromWU command completed successfully.

after that copy and paste this command

updroots.exe roots.sst

wait for to complete

after that Run certmgr.msc and make sure that all certificates have been added to the Trusted Root Certification Authority.

Edit 1 - i use to have a link for updroots.exe but microsoft have moved it on their website

Ok lets just be sure updates are not turned off

press the windows key and type

gpedit.msc

press enter there will be a couple of popups that is fine, then check the the setting for turning off root certificates is not enabled.

• Under Computer Configuration
• Click on “Administrative Templates” then “System”
• Click on “Internet Communication Management”
• Click on “Internet Communication settings”

i don't seem to have a file called gpedit.msc

If you press the windows key + R and then type

gpedit.msc 

press ok , i have tested both ways here on windows 10 and the local group policy editor opens both times

If you go to c:\windows\system32 folder can you see gpedit.msc located there ?

it says cannot find gpedit.msc

Ok it appears Windows 10 Home edition doesn't have gpedit.msc , is this the version of windows 10 you have ?
