Re: SWTOR Windows 10 Launcher GUI wont launch outside of safe mode!

They should definitely redesign it exactly like the planetside 2 launcher from steam. this is the first game in 18 years of gaming ive ever had  problem with the launcher on. and with that said the first professionally made game that woudnt work even after reinstalling(the launcher).

so with that said, I have my msinfo report but how do I get that posted here? I looked at EA cases and stuff but it makes no sense. can u guide me on how to post the misinfo report here or anything else u could possibly think of to get my SWTOR launcher to launch to get to the first GUI popup screen without having to reformat my whole computer?

thank you for your time!

There is one thing easy to check can you go to C:\windows\syswow64 folder and see if a libcef.dll file exists there ? if one does delete it.

May take me a few days to go through this properly as looking at this in my spare time

You say the swtor launcher is your only issue ?

the msinfo has the following crash reports over the last few days

    7/22/2018 6:13 AM Event Name: RADAR_PRE_LEAK_WOW64&#x000d Problem P1: StarWarsG.exe

7/21/2018 11:40 AM Faulting application name: devicecensus.exe Faulting module name: WaaSAssessment.dll (multiple)
7/21/2018 9:02 AM Faulting application name: left4dead2.exe Faulting module name: tier0.dll

7/18/2018 7:14 AM Faulting application name: OverwolfLauncher.exe Faulting module name: OverwolfLauncher.exe

7/17/2018 2:47 AM Faulting application name: CtHdaSvc.exe Faulting module name: CtHdaSvc.exe  (sound blaster)

  • libcef.dll was not there.

yes swtor launcher is my only issue. same thing really the gui doesn't pop up when I try to start it in windows normal boot. works in safe mode though. no idea what the problem is!
  • Can u perhaps persuade EA/BioWare to update/redesign their launcher to be more robust like say the PlanetSide 2 Launcher by the next expansion if they do one if we run out of help tips to solve this issue? with the money they make this shouldn't be a problem for them.

With that said ive tried just about everything to fix this launcher issue from reading posts before posting this thread to looking at videos. its been broken for me for almost a month now. Id rather they do something for everyone than for me to reformat my whole computer only for this mysterious bug to happen again. because when it did happen I didn't change anything on my system and Im pretty sure I don't have any viruses or it would affect my other games.

Anyway thanks for all the help thus far!

    Peace!

Hello. I'm having the same issue. Could you please describe how to add swtor foles to a Windows firewall exeptions?

Tried everything, safe mode and win 10 firewall seem to be my last hope.

@rara_orly Were you able to get launched and logged in yet?

If you still need to sort out the Windows Firewall, you can open the start menu and type in Firewall, and one of the results should be "Allow an app through Windows Firewall".

The two application files you need to add are:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\BioWare\Star Wars - The Old Republic\swtor\retailclient\swtor.exe

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\BioWare\Star Wars - The Old Republic\launcher.exe

  • Bumping this up again, even though it says Solved.

I'm having this very same issue, I tried everything suggested all over the web, including this guide https://answers.ea.com/t5/Troubleshooting-Guides-Info/Guide-quot-How-to-install-Swtor-Correctly-and-address-Windows-10/td-p/4851036 and nothing helped whatsoever so far, Launcher.exe process just hangs on for a few seconds while I'm checking Task Manager and then simply closes, with no message at all, only twice I saw Windows' troubleshooting manager, tried it too, nada, zilch.

Also, I changed update download method from Bitrade to SSN, I had way better experience having it like this in the past. I downloaded a game partially too, but interrupted it due to too late in the night yesterday.

As the topic says, I can start launcher.exe in Safe Mode with Networking only.

Attaching two so far created log files.

    @SylvaeDragon

noted you are short on HDD space at one point, mind that should have nothing to do with the launcher appearing

If you have tried everything mentioned in this thread and other links then maybe a in-place repair may be worth a try, see this link  for windows 10 as an example this keeps all user data and programs intact.
