Hi,
got the same problem. I downloaded the patch, then got the error "unable to retrieve patch data". What i did was:
1. used FixLauncher
2. flushed DNS
3. opened ports (80, 8995 and 12000-12999) on router
4. started again launcher with admin rights
Whole patch was downloaded again and i finally managed to get into game. Hope that will works for you.
