I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think you can change an off-hand weapon to a main hand weapon. You probably need to replace ALL the modifications and put in ones that are for main hand weapons.

I recall this happening to one of my mainhand/offhand sabers as well. It was stuck as off-hand and I just removed all modifications from the weapon (even crystal and augment) and it reset to it's original state. Also, if the weapon is in your Collection, you can just claim a new version.
