Returned to SWTOR, constant lag issues

Haven't played SWTOR for 6+ months. Same system as previously used with SWTOR.

Ran launcher, updated game (took a good 12 hours), recovered my password etc.

Hopped into game on a new character, played for a couple minutes when my lag spiked. First couple times the connection re-established after a few seconds and I continued to play.

Now, I can barely be in game for 5 seconds before my lag spikes and the game becomes unplayable. Don't have any issues with the launcher or getting into the game, issue only seems to occur once I'm in game. Once or twice the loading screen has stayed up for 10-20 seconds longer than usual but it always gets through.

Have deleted diskcachearena. Have opened ports. It doesn't seem to be my internet connection as I can play SWTOR fine on my other computer. Not sure what else to try.

    I gather you grab the drivers from here

    It is hard to know what the cause is, it could even be a driver issue, trying a different adapter is the only way to narrow it down to the adapter itself.

    Edit - have to go out for a few hours

    Hard drive space on C is getting down just to mention, SSDs do not like being full, best practice in my view is to keep at 75%

    Now back to lag issue, try a different network adapter , and if wireless try wired and see if it persists initially.

    Ensure both launcher.exe and swtor.exe are in all the exception lists for AV and Firewall.

    Edit - doesn't hurt to update the video driver too

    Yeah I've gotta clear C, just haven't gotten around to it.

    Only have the 1 adapter and don't have a network cable to reach from computer to router in the other room. I have trouble believing it's my computers network connection owing to the fact I can play most other games without any lag issues. (Counter-Strike, Star Wars BattleFront to name a couple)

    Both are in all the exception lists.

    It comes down to a lot of factors , it isn't unusual that wireless network adapter can fall down under one program and not another.

    Connecting by cable is the simplest way to see if its a network adapter/ wireless issue.

    You say the other computer is fine so I would be checking the above if it was my system first up.

    Sorry just to check, did you want me to try a different network adapter or a different adapter program?

    That unfortunately will have to wait till I can pick myself up a network cable to reach my modem. Thanks for the help mate.

    @RageBall

    You can also use www.pingplotter.com and set it to run to the servers when playing , see what the network does when the lag spikes occur

    • If you play on an East Coast server: 159.153.92.28
    • If you play on a West Coast server: 159.153.68.252
    • If you play on a European server: 159.153.72.252

    Edit - if it is a network wireless issue it should be very apparent in the graph.
