Thanks for your reply. I closed and launched the launcher again and now it's downloading normally. Restarted it once again to be sure and it seems to be downloading normally for now.

Btw, I think I'm using the streaming launcher (this is the first time I'm downloading the game, hence it says "Minimum Download in Progress"). Is it possible for me to switch to the non-streaming launcher? Is the non-streaming launcher better?

Any cons of using the non-streaming launcher as such? I read somewhere that new players who are playing for the first time HAVE TO use the streaming launcher. Is this true?

No cons really , the game install I have is from 2012 and been moved to 3 different hard drives simply by copying the entire game folders across and creating a new shortcut to launcher.exe

Like I said some say download is slower then streaming , but once the initial gamedownload is done , its great at patch time .

Way it works is the web setup defaults to streaming , if you have DVDs it defaults to non streaming , the directions I posted simply make it like the DVD installer.

Also, in your guide you have mentioned:

 if you have the old version still on another computer , copy all the game folders over to this computer

What did you mean by this? Will I lose the progress I have made if I switch to the non-streaming downloader? Before switching to non-streaming can't I just backup the required files elsewhere and move them back into the game folder once I have made the switch? I only have a 512 KB/s connection actually...

A lot of people prefer the non streaming launcher, the old original post I made a few years ago is here (at least until the 27th Oct when they remove the old CS Forum) if you want to have a read.

Hey what I'm actually trying to do is download the game onto my laptop first and then shift the game folder to my pc. Is this possible to carry out regardless of the launcher type used (BR or SSN)? The base game (28 Mb) is already installed on my PC. I'm doing the downloading on my laptop because it would consume less power than the PC.
