Hypothesis : last week, we got the droid smuggling event by accident (it was supposed to be a heist). That (should have been) heist and today's were the original "scheduled" random heists. They had to manually add Sunday's as today's was too late to fit the advertised 6-12 day window. They canceled today's, as it would be too soon.
TL;DR one mistake lead to another. There will be no heist today, nor any kind of recompense.
