Cad Bane & IG-88
Two of the most proficient and renowned bounty hunters in the galaxy and they are lack luster in comparison to some of their peers. Two abilities a pop seems lacking for these two and I feel they deserve a little love to at least bring them up to three abilities like most of their peers.
Boba, Aurra, Bossk, Dengar all have three - forget the newer hunters like Grief, Mando, and IG-11. I mean lesser bounty hunters like Zam are an absolute beast with the right upgrades and she dies like a chump in the first 20 minutes of her introductory film.
Point is they could use a little elbow grease to bring them up to snuff. How, you ask? Well here are some thoughts.
Cad:
Boot Thrusters, could use it to give him foresight or evasion up and retaliation. Cad used these in his duel against both Anakin and Obi-wan to great effect.
Wrist flamer, I know Jango has one too, but it could be more of a defense buffer for Cad. Using it to fend off aggressors so he can pepper them with shots. Could use it to grant blind to targets with high turn meter or something along those lines.
Quick draw, he was a master of the draw after all. This could give him a built in retaliation that goes off whenever he is targeted by an attack. Kind of like Han's shoot first but instead of it just happening at the beginning, he has a chance of shooting whomever targets him. Not 100%, or not 100% damage or anything, but just some chip damage to hurt those that attack him. Could be enough to end a weak target that picks the wrong opponent?
One Step Ahead, he was a master planner and prided himself on being prepared for anything. So why not give him an ability that reflects that. A little more conceptual here but it could be anything from a random buff based on his opponents to extra turn meter when opponents attack out of turn. This one could use some more elbow grease but you get the idea.
IG-88:
The top assassin droid in the galaxy is being outshone by almost every other droid in the game and I think that's a crime.
If we want him to utilize target lock I propose a few things. Some passive perks.
He auto-hits target locked enemies. Disregarding even foresight. This means that he would be effective against stall builds that rely heavily on foresight spam and being dodgey.
He can use a "Locked On" ability that applies target lock to enemies, if enemies already have target lock IG-88 gets armor penetration / deals armor shred on his next attack.
Up his damage further, or increase his speed. In the comics he would single handedly take on multiple opponents simultaneously, his super computer able to calculate the actions, trajectories, and vectors of enemy attacks.
He also has a small, personal deflector shield built into one of his arms that can deflect incoming blaster fire. That could be a usable ability that gives him damage immunity for a single turn, but perhaps it clears all stacks of target lock from the enemy team when it is used?
Back in the day he was known as a heavy hitter - all damage and little else. But it doesn't work anymore, the punch isn't there against most lineups and his slow speed just makes him ineffective. The defensive bonus of dodging against a target locked enemy is neat, but not all that effective when you're getting spammed with assist attacks. Why not drop that and go all in with the glass cannon. Fast and deadly, but reliant on team mates to keep him firing in a protracted battle?
Just a few ideas, these are two of my favorite non-force using characters in Star Wars and I would really like to be incentivized to use them AND have them be effective in their own way. On par with their peers at the very least.
Thank you!
