The Revan Obsession, I really don't get it...

I swear to God every other day some guy on youtube who plays this game or some comment in this forum or reddit is asking for Revan to be brought in the game.

I seriously don't get it. I mean Revan is cool but by no means cooler than some of the other Jedi and sith Lords of the old. Why do people have such a massive obsession with him? You never hear people ask for Bane, who is canon btw, or ask for Sion, or Traya or any of these guys, it's always Revan for some reason.

But regardless of this Revan madness who can people ask for a character that is simply out of place for this era that the game is based on?

Like when did Revan meet Han Solo or Anakin Skywalker? Why can't people understand that you can bring a guy from 3000 years prior to the events of this game. This game has nothing to do with the days of the old republic and the mandalorian wars.

I understand that adding darth Nihilus violates that but we all know that Nihilus had a purpose. First of all they had to give the sith, Maul meta a push and some diversity cause there were no options, hence why we also got assasin and trooper. And second it was a huge opportunity to make money.

Revan makes no sense to come to the game, he isn't even the most badass or strongest guy from the old republic. The only way I can see some of these old characters be implemented would be a massive expansion that expanded the era of the game and brought a bunch of these characters with it. But to individually hand pick Revan and bring him in the game makes no sense!
  • Well, "cool" is subjective.

I don't get why people want Jango and Padme. I could list a bunch of reasons as to why I dont get it... but ultimately it's subjective.

Revan for me, would be because they were the player character in arguably the best star wars game ever made. The only character who was both a prominant Jedi Master and Sith Lord (anakin was never a master iirc).

And frankly has an awesome costume.

That being said I would love Kriea and Sion almost more. Revan is more myth than character at this point.
  • @B0untryHR7 is your post a question or a stand against the idea ?
If is it a question then your post is OK.
Btw, I dont understand why people like him, too, but i am not against just to have the opportunity to creare a post.
So, the post should be about why people want him so much ? A question.
Another question is you how you guys see a character like him in the game ? What skills should he have ?

If this is a stand then is hard to understand why you post it. Your ideas will not change people mind cause many will not read this and they don't change just because you want it so. Also, this will not make you special or different, I have the same questions, others too, but we don't took a stand against community just to try to look different.

Revan was a she when I played SW KotOR II. He/she was the player character. Woke up on a ship under attack, with no memory. Turned out that he/she was a Sith Lord who had banged his/her head or something.

I don’t really get how a character whose identity and story was something that you decided for yourself can be a character in SWGoH.

Right? Makes no sense... such an abstract concept...

Cause Jango and padme were very relative to the era we are talking about. They interacted with multiple characters from the game and fought against them...

The widely accepted version of Revan (based on the books), is a human male. The exile (KOTOR 2) is a human female. Just to keep things in perspective. It's like playing as Vader in the force unleashed. Yes he overpowered, but obviously that's not the canon version.

Starkiller doesn't belong in this game either, still makes more sense than Revan

CG would make plenty of money.... That's enough for them to eventually pull the trigger. Just as you said, he has a whole fan club that would kill to see him brought to the game.

They can make a bunch if money no matter who they release, once they make it seem like they are gonna have a powerful kit that might upset the meta, everyone will freakout and buy them so that they don't fall behind. People will even spend a fortun for a wampa or a probe droid

You're entire argument that they have nothing to do with the setting of the game is flawed. The setting of the game is Star Wars. The time period doesn't matter. In fact, the premise of the game of the game is there you're playing a holotable game, or did you forget? Stop getting wrapped around the axle over nothing.

Yes it matters. Otherwise 99.5% of characters wouldn't be from the same period.

If a game was about world war 2 to today, would you expect to add a character from the 300 Spartans with a shield and a speer while being the only character of that period. Seriouly that's the equivalent example.

This is a really bad comparison. Just accept the fact that revan is a well liked character. He had his own game that is a cult classic at this point and he had a pretty well fleshed out character. I for one find the amount of revan threads anorying but i really appreciate seeing the love people have for the EU characters. If you don't like the threads don't read them. Its that simple.

Don't get me wrong, I love Revan, I just don't wanna see him ruined in this game. Also my comparison was more than sufficient. If they were to create a similar game for the old republic or add an expansion with a bunch of these characters together then I wouldn't mind. But a stand alone, Nihilus type addition of Revan simply makes no sense.
  • The game name is Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes. You should check this. There are no other mention. So they are not bound or they should not limit to an era . There are no other limitation like canon/non-canon.
