My opponent without any tank, has r2 himself as a pseudo taunt. But his cls has more hp +prot, not r2.

Positive. My K2 is always targeted by R2 until his prot drops low enough. It still targets him when he has less protection than others on my team, but his big health pool makes it still target him until the combination is really low... then he targets himself usually.

You must not be taking number crunch into account.

I'am quiet sure. You can test this without fear in GW. Send in an group of Poe, R2 an BB8 without Mods and same gearlevel. Then hit automode. I bet R2 will target himself every time bcs he has the highest combined health and protection in this group.
