Theres ur answer
Light Side allies have +50% Max Health, and while they have Protection Up they resist all debuffs and can't be critically hit.
At the start of their turn, Galactic Republic allies dispel Protection Up buffs on themselves and gain 1 stack of Courage for each 5% Protection Up dispelled this way. Courage can't be copied, dispelled, or prevented.
Courage: When damaging the target enemy with an attack, for each 5 stacks of Courage, dispel 5 stacks and deal bonus damage equal to 40% of the target's Max Health
The damage is not based of your max hp but the targets .

more hp = more protection from protection up = same amount of courage .
If I have 5 protection ups with a max health of 200k or 50k, I still only have 5 protection ups .if the character doesn't get dispelled or hit it will be the same amount of courage no matter your max hp.you need to increase the stacks of the buff not the buff itself if you want more courage.
Having a greater amount of protection from protection up might mean you can keep it till your turn if you were hit but there are a lot of toons with more max hp and better kits than cup zarris being a easy one.

I said more protection up, not more individual buffs.
As you said, the more HP you have the fewer stacks of the buff you lose after being hit.- I think the answer is "fun", and all extra text in this thread is "bloviating."
- I did have a couple ex-guild members who were rebellious and annoyed that our leader was asking them to gear geos for the wat shards. So they started a challenge to gear CUP to R7. They were kicked and left not long after.
