IDK. I don't think people have really thought about this aspect of the game mechanics. If you had someone other than the taunter targeted before the taunting, should the targeting go back to the original target after the taunter is dispelled or killed? It seems logical to me that it would, but perhaps I am being biased here because that mechanic would help my gameplay.
People probably haven’t thought about it because it doesn’t affect them at all since they’re not using auto in situations where this would matter. If you’re paying enough attention to the auto fight to notice this you can just keep manually selecting the target you want.
