Sims 1 won't launch, refund was a nightmare: Bought sims 2 TWICE

I just want to share my experience with this Sims 1 fiasco.

After all the updates, and finally having to just ask for a refund, I was given a run for my money during the refund process. While the messages attached don't show everything for privacy reasons, there are some key points.

A) I bought the sims 2 and sims 1 collections on launch day. I later came to find out I bought the birthday bundle that included sims 2 and sims 1, as well as sims 2 legacy collection : this means EAs software basically allowed me to pay 2 times for the same game

B) Simran, the ea help adviser assigned to my case, told me the base games were the same, but then told me that sims 2 in the birthday collection has different features, and therefore I didn't pay for it twice.

C) I told him I may want to test and see if I was currently running the legacy version of sims 2 or the version that came with the bundle, because if I was running the version with the bundle, then I wouldn't want to refund the bundle because it would take away the sims 2

D) he informed me that I wouldn't lose anything because the base game is the same, so not to worry about losing sims 2. To which I replied "so I bought the same game twice, like I said 4 messages ago and you said "no"?"

E) I asked if I could get a partial refund or a credit/coupon for a future game if I had to keep the bundle in order to continue playing sims 2> basically, my understanding was EA doesnt have the technology yet to itemize bundle items, so partial refunds are not possible.

F) apparently in my annoyance I became a little blunt because his response was "you want the refund or not"

The rest is attached, but in case of TLDR; he basically got tired of me asking questions and was rude to me to get me off the chat because I was dissatisfied with my experience with the sims 1 launch and ea help.

IF YOU BOUGHT THE SIMS 1 AND THE SIMS 2 PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK AND MAKE SURE YOU DIDNT ACCIDENTALLY BUY THE BIRTHDAY BUNDLE AS WELL AS THE LEGACY VERSIONS OF ONE OF THE GAMES.

I did end up getting my money refunded but this was a terrible experience overall. I have 14500 hours on the sims 4 alone, and have played the sims since it's release in 2000, as well as simcity, my sims and all sims mobile and freeplay games. I am 32 this year and own every pack minus Batuu and a few kits. This means overall I have invested probably tens of thousands of dollars in the sims, because there was a time when they were on disk and if you lost the code, you were toast if you bought a new computer. So I had to purchase multiple copies of a few of the sims 2 games when our family computer took a turn. Long story long, I will be reconsidering giving my money to EA in the future if it will be this way if I ever need a refund. @EA

  • The advisor was actually correct, though.

The TS2 Legacy Collection and TS25 Anniversary Bundle are two different items on the shop, so you didn't buy the same item twice even though TS2 is included in both.

TS2 Legacy Collection is also a bundle, since it includes also the Sims 4 and a vintage object pack.

I'm happy you were able to get a refund, though. It's a shame TS1 Vulkan requirement wasn't clearly disclosed in the system requirements.
