I am having the same issue. I've seen a lot of other forums, and many others are experiencing this too. As far as I know, you can't do anything about it unless EA make another update/patch or something to fix it.
!m sorry your having the same issues i dont understand why some players have problems and some dont there has to be a setting or somthing that isn't set or like you mentioned maybe its a EA problem that needs to be patched which i hope it does or add more features and options to fix this and other issues..

I still have black bars on every screen in the game Sims 1 legacy. EA please fix and scale the game to fill the screen
