Could someone explain to me how to start a fresh save?

I did read the new Patch 4 notes today and was wondering if someone could further explain how to do this:

  • In some cases, issues that have now been addressed might have corrupted game saves from before they were addressed (e.g. when Sims could disappear, Sims can’t eat cooked food, etc). In these cases, please try starting a fresh save as the game won’t be able to correct the corruption, and working with corrupted saves may lead to unexpected behavior.

I genuinely have no idea how to "access save files"?? I also really don't want to mess this up. 😔

  • The way they phrase it makes it sound as easy as starting a new save in TS4, but TS2 doesn't work the same way. There's no "just start a fresh save" option. You have to reset the game (or at least the played neighborhood) completely. Also, just uninstalling and reinstalling from the EA app doesn't delete any files, which I found out the hard way after uninstalling, reinstalling, and then finding all of the sims exactly how I left them.  I had to completely uninstall TS2 and delete all TS2 folders (there are two: one in Documents, one in program files>EA Games), and then reinstall to get a completely fresh save.

Idk if there's a way to do it without uninstalling/deleting/reinstalling everything, but with the game fixes, imo it's better to completely start over than just try to replace the neighborhood.

You can save your Downloads (aka CC) folder though, if you have one. That isn't part of the original game files.
