Curious Household Unplayable

I purchased Sims 2 Legacy on release and the Curious household has been consistently bugged for me to the point where that household is unplayable. No alien abduction for Vidcund as others have mentioned and I'm also having issues with food. The household is unable to feed themselves - food disappears while cooking. Occasionally one of the brothers is able to cook, but cannot grab the plate of food to eat. The carpool to work also never arrives and an automatic day of vacation is taken. I'm also getting nonstop repeat notifications. I've not had these issues with any other households.
