First don't panic too much about corruption. Yes, do your best to avoid corrupting your game, but it's not the end of the world.
Cinebar has played a known corrupted neighborhood for over 10 years. I went through almost 6 generations of a single family in a corrupted neighborhood before I had more noticeable signs of corruption - graves disappeared, I had a couple of invisible Sims that I couldn't cheat dead. The neighborhood was still playable at this state, just not that family with the invisible Sims.
As for the bed issue, what is the relationship between the kids? I know Sims without a high enough relationship will refuse to sleep together in the same bed.
Have you tried another bed? Even temp buying a new bed for them to sleep in. Especially if the bed is CC.
