Is it me or are some features really different in UC?

Im in the UK and I do get the 5 hour warnings, weird that some of you dont :o

I'm also a UK Simmer and I get the warnings with the UC. That's a strange thing to have missing, even for The Sims!

Just wondering is anyone playing in ultra speed and sometimes ultra speed in all these games can cause a glitch, I don't play in ultra speed so in a total vanilla game, maybe that is the problem (Custom content?) or the mod that shortens the days of college life?

I'm constantly in Ultra speed and get the warnings. I don't have a mod to shorten the number of college days.

I do have a mod that will force finals to not be at night, which can happen, especially if you don't fully empty out a dorm before moving the next batch in.

I know what you mean about the ultra speed. Would have to rule it out. No Mods or cc so obviously not that.

USA, get the 5 hour warning, never paid attention to the clock. There is a difference between UC and disk installed version. I've tried to add house lots made on a disks version to UC, and they are rejected for incompatibility. It's been a while so forget what the message was.

There is no difference between disk and UC unless you've recently installed via UC as UC has no Securom anymore. Disk versions do.

If there was such a difference that you describe, people wouldn't be able to play saves that were started on the disk versions on the UC. And trust me they can because I do. Multiple different saves are viable that I started when I played via disk that I know play via the UC.

What you've got is usual EA wonkiness with the game's own installer most likely. Get the Sims 2 Clean Installer off of MTS and that should get your lot to install properly as it bypasses the launcher. On the plus side, Sims 2 Clean Installer will help ensure you don't accidentally download something you don't want.
