Just installed TS2 and have some issues

Ok, how do I fix them?

First off, I can only play on 800x600 resolution. There's no other option. I could play on a bigger resolution on my laptop just fine! With the exact same version of Windows.
Second off, when I try to install Pets, I have to wait forever for the installation to complete. I get the please wait window that doesn't go away. I had this issue with Nightlife, but solved it by disconnecting the internet alltogether. It didn't work with Pets.
Suggestions?

    Oh, I missed that part... Do you have all the Expansions and Stuff?

    I used to edit the Config files for the CD games before the UC to make it play better, I just haven't had to since the Graphics rules came out.

    Hmmm... I did that but it still hasn't "unlocked" the other options that would make the lot view large once an for all.

    Oh well, I can always stick with the cheat whenever I run the game.
