Missing files to install origin and problems with sims 2 expansions

Ok, so my PC crashed, I got it fixed, but he couldn't restore my windows 7 and against my will I got windows 10 instead. I fricking hate it and I can't find anything on it, but the bugs are worse. First it can't find the files VCRUNTIME140.dll and MSVCP140.dll wich means I can't install origin and sims 3 and 4.

But I figured I still got the CDs for the sims 2 where I got all expansion, but no stuff packs. So I install the base game and that works fine. I install University, not so fine, it stops when I get told to put in CD4 from the base game and it's automatically uninstalled again. After trying 2 more times I search the internet. They tell me to download an installer from Grumpyloader and install the correct patch via that one instead of inserting the base game CD4. So I do that, open the game to check and voila, I got the game working with university, I'm so happy. It's an annoying way to do things, but at least it works. So Install Nightlife, works fine, business life have some problems with not recognizing the right patch, so it won't install, but I figure it shouldn't be a problem. since I will be installing more games and patches anyway so I install Bon voyage and that works perfectly. When I go on to install season, there is problems again. The computer insist some system administrator have blocked my access and won't let me install it. So I try and install as an administrator, no go. So I search online and go to some digit exe or something and add access to all as instructed, but that doesn't help at all, so I go searching again, and manage to get a guide to enable a "net user administrator". I log on and now it finally works. So I install the last 2 expansions and patches.

And finally what I expected to take 30 min have taken me 4 hours, but finally I'm done. And I load up the game. The game loads fine, it's apartment life and all, but that is the only thing. All other expansions have somehow been uninstalled. The earlier screaming and cursing at the screen resumes for a while, while I decide to try one more time. Still in the net user administrator account, I install the 3 first expansions with patches, all with windows xp server pack 2 compability. but to no avail. I load it up, it now loads up with "open for business", but without university and night life.

So this is a LOONG post, but mainly so I don't get advice's on trying things I already did. So I got 2 questions:
1. How can I install and play with ALL my 6 expansions for Sims2 instead of having to choose 1? Only 1 expansions sucks when I payed for all. (I'll be willing to pay and download it from somewhere, if that is the only option)
2. Why does my freshly restored computer missing the 2 files VCRUNTIME140.dll and MSVCP140.dll, and how to I get them installed? I did try something I found on the internet, but it doesn't work.I need them to install Origin and not only for Sims 3 and 4, but also for my other games there.

Really hoping someone can help me. I've been going on this for almost 6 hours now, and I'm mad, frustrated, fed up and figure this is my last hope.

(I tried posting this in the technical help section, but I could only find the preview and cancel button and not the post button, so that is why it's here. Eventually found the button. For some reason it wasn't there when I tried the first time.
  • Hi @Dida_Quickswitch - moving this thread to The Sims 2 section for 'The Sims 2' part of it.

For the issues with installing Origin, please, ask in https://answers.ea.com/t5/Origin-Client-Web-Technical/bd-p/origin-technical-issues-en. You might want to use the search tool on the Origin forum first ;)
  • Thanks. I now got fixed the problem with Origin, but I still have problems with the Sims 2 and the expansions
  • First thing to do is to do a clean uninstall. This is to make sure nothing is left behind from when the game uninstalled itself by mistake. Which does happen occasionally and can mess things up.

Use this link on doing that:

    https://modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Uninstall

Then once you've got it fully uninstalled, then install the base game only.

Launch the game to make sure things are working properly.

    Patch the base game.

Before you try GrumpyLoader again, try installing the patch while in safe mode. Believe it or not that can help. I had problems installing the Sims 2 base game patch on Windows 7 until I tried going into Safe Mode. Safe Mode brings what loads only to what's necessary. Here's instructions for that: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12376/windows-10-start-your-pc-in-safe-mode

Not bypassing errors is ideal. But do what you need to do in order to get the game patched.

Then load up your game and make sure things look fine.

Then install your EP's/SP's. Load up each EP as you install them to make sure they and the previous ones are there. Then patch and load again for each thing you install that has a patch.

Then you're going to want to Google Securom and Windows 10 to figure out how to deal with that (I can't go into detail or find a link for you due to a few of the required steps). But Securom and Windows 10 do not get along so you'll want to deal with that so you don't get lag.

Edit to add: Saw Cinebar mention that error might be due to launcher bug. Here's how to bypass the launcher in Windows 10: http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game%20Help:Bypassing%20Launcher

    Apartment Life would be Sims2EP8.exe

Mansion & Garden Stuff if you have that is Sims2EP9.exe.

Those are the only 2 .exe's not listed on that site that you would need, I believe. But let us know if you need another one and we can help.
  • I just installed the game with all expansions and it seems to work perfectly. I've have created a new neighborhood, placed some lots and is in the process of adding vacations places, universities etc. SO I haven't actually played yet, but it looks very promising. The 6 first expansion worked greit as long as I updated them with the patch via Grumpyloader. When I came to freetime, I hit a bump, with a non exisitng system administrator blocked my way. But by restarting in safe mode I was able to install the last 2 expansion, restarted back in normal mode again and I got the game with All expansion for the first time in over a year. Very happy for that. Gonna play a bit, then see about adding some more addons hoping it still works  D
So if you got the disks from before and windows 10, this works. Can't promice anything if you don't have all the expansions or if you also have stuff packs, but it worked for me.
