sims 2 crashing already.

Quite annoyed, bought the sims 2 legacy addition at full price and was excited to play. I have attempted to play twice, each time I finish creating a household and press play, the game crashes with a notification telling me the game will be terminated. 

What am I supposed to do to fix this? I JUST bought it.
