Good news is, you can download old Sims 2 store sets, but also there's plenty of Sims 3 & 4 objects converted to Sims 2 :)
But with over 15 years of community made CC...it's hard to not find what you're looking for in any category. If you want to stick to a vanilla game, yeah, TS2 is kind of boring, though. But the sims games has always been about customization so the community always caters to it.
