Sims 2 Legacy Food Glitch + writing novel glitch

Encountering the novel glitch as well. Similarly, when calling a sim on the phone, the game lags, the sim I'm talking to teleports to the doorstep and disappears. Both involve the game lagging during the action, and then skipping the action as well as multiple queued actions, so I can't progress on novels, nor raise friendship over the phone.
