I haven't updated past Windows 7. It seems to be the latest that runs Sims 2 well. But, I have a Mac and play Sims 2 on a Windows partition, everything else is on my Mac proper. So I'm not depending on Windows for anything but Sims 2. I don't know what kind of issues you might be up against if you were solely dependent on Windows going back to Windows 7.
