Sims2 legacy runtime has asked the application to close

Question

Suddenly today when I try to launch the game, I get an errorfor the C++ Runtime Library:

...mmon\The Sims 2 Legacy Collection\EP9\TSBin\Sims2EP9.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.

This is a generic error, but so far I have:

-removed any custom content/downloads folder

-repaired the application through steam

-uninstall / reinstalled the application through steam

deleted my visual C++ runtime redistributable and .net framework and restarted to let my PC download them again
uninstall/reinstall the sims 2 legacy AGAIN

Still the same error. Hello? What gives?

I had this issue as well. I was able to fix it by completely removing the Sims 2 Legacy folder in documents, then running it to repopulate the file. I was able to also transfer my mods and saves back as well. Hope this helps!
