the Sims 2 Legacy "First-Born Syndrome" Genetics Bug

I am writing to bring attention to a long-standing issue in The Sims 2 known as the "First-Born Syndrome" genetics bug. This bug causes the first baby born in each play session to have identical genetic traits, including physical appearance and personality, as the couple’s first-born child. As a result, the expected randomness and genetic diversity in the game are lost, limiting the player's experience.

This issue stems from the game's genetics algorithm, which resets to the same sequence every time the game is loaded. Since this greatly affects gameplay and realism, I urge you to consider addressing this bug in a future update or patch.

A bug that has existed since the base game was released in 2001. If you’re that unhappy refund the game.

I’m not going to argue with anyone else on this post. This has been a bug since day one of the base game release in 2001. If you are unhappy with having to repurchase the game and still experience this issue without trying a work around and instead demand EA to fix something 21 years old, maybe you should just refund the game.

I’m excited about my purchase and it was worth every penny due to the fact I’ve been playing for many years and know how to work around this glitch and it doesn’t bother me one bit because it didn’t affect me.

This is a bug report thread. If this doesn't bother you, I'm not sure why you're here telling everyone else that it doesn't matter, and now, to refund the game.

Why i should refund it when they can fix this with ease since they're already fixing some bugs. Anyways..

puzzlezaddict cebmarin Are there mods specifically for the Sims 1 and/or 2 Legacy or can you use any Sims 1 and/or 2 mods. I did not buy the bundle because I did not know there was a bundle button when I bought it. Did I completely screw up the chance to use mods? Not going to lie, a sense of incredible dread has just come over me at the thought of not being able to use mods. I hope the following scenario is true: A person buy the Sims 1, uses mods and then later wants to try The Sims 2, buys it and can use mods.

ArilyBooI completely agree with simserenity Code is code and they absolutely could fix issues. EA has a well-documented habit of making players and modders fix things they could absolutely fix if they so desired.

The game's age has nothing to do it. An example, people are able to play a variety of old games under emulation. It doesn't matter how old the game is at all. Another game I am fond of is over 40 with a fork of DOSBox (DOS Emulator) without an issue. If they have access to the code, they can fix it and they should.

I know you said you didn't want to argue, please keep in mind that these games are not cheap and we are now outside of the EA app 1 failed run/2 week return policy, and that people who bought with Steam don't get refunds at all. So if we are all stressed and frustrated and eager to see our games work, saying that we should refund is the worst thing you can say because now we can't get refunds!

They're rerelease so you can use old mods and ccs. Bundle thing is just for spending less money for both in total. You can buy one by one or in bundle it doesn't matter. They're same.

Yes, if they charge them for lots of bucks. They should fix main bugs.
