The Sims 2 not working after last update

Question

Afternoon all. I went to play the sims 2 legacy game today and after the last update it wont start. I click on play and all I get are massive icons on my desktop,then it starts then goes back to the app.

I don't know why the legacy edition uninstalled after the last update but it had the old sims 2 installed and I had to re-install the legacy edition.

Because I cant edit my post. I have tried logging out of the app,restarting my computer and un installing the game. Nothing is working. That's a picture of my desktop when I start the game.&nbsp;
