The Sims 2 Ultimate won't launch on EA App

Ever since I was forced to switch to the EA App on March 1st I haven't been able to get The Sims 2 Ultimate Edition to launch. It starts to launch then errors with a message that says "Your game failed to launch. An error on our end caused your launch to fail. Try again a little later." I've been getting the same error every time I try since having to switch. I have run a repair several times, have checked that Graphics Rules Maker is set right, and have installed the 4GB patch, all remedies I've seen mentioned as helping others. Can someone please help me with what else to try?

  • @KatrianaND , have you uninstalled and reinstalled the game? Sometimes when the game data transfers from Origin to the App, not all the game files are properly transferred.

Hi, I was forced to go from Origin (no problems launching) to EA. I played my Sims 2 about a week ago. Now I

Keep gettting EA launch will not load at all. I paid a lot of money for these

games and want to play them. This seems the only way to get help with this

forum. Whatever happened to sending a ticket and getting a response?

@dierkingl & @KatrianaND , have you moved the Sims 2 folder (Documents > EA Games > Sims 2 or Sims 2 Ultimate Collection) to your Desktop and then tried to uninstall and reinstall the game? Also try clearing the local thumb cache in the EA App before reinstalling the game. These tricks have help some games reinstall properly.

@Tremayne4260 I've tried the cache clearing a few times, have uninstalled and reinstalled again after moving the Sims 2 folder out of the EA Games folder in Documents, have run a repair again, and still keep getting the same error message. Once in awhile it tries to launch, but most times it goes straight to the error.

So I have finally managed to get The Sims 2 Ultimate working after trying the compatibility check fix mentioned in this thread: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Other-The-Sims-Games/Sims-2-Not-Launching-EA-Play/td-p/12358137 . Running the Troubleshoot Compatibility from the desktop icon and setting it to use Windows Vista service pack 2 settings has gotten it to where I can launch the game finally. Still have to test if old game files will work, but the load issue is fixed now at least it seems.

@KatrianaND remember to clear the caches with in the Sims 2 folder as well every time before you play. This will help to prevent the game from becoming corrupt. These are the Accessory.cache and localthumb.cache (I think that's the name of the second one. I always forget it).

I have been trying to launch the sim 2 ultimate collection  for several days  now. So I installed CEP and it worked like a charm.
