TS2 - Sims change into random townies on reload

Sorry, found this page after quitting the game so no screenshots. 

The game bugged when I created my first family and tried to move them in, the family was one adult male, one teenage girl, and an adult cat. The cat turned into a different kitten, different gender and name too. Ok, no biggie. Played for a few hours and kept getting multiple errors regarding hobby enthusiasm but everything worked so I ignored them.

Then I tried to go to a community lot with the teen girl but the lot was bugged, the girl nor any sim showed up at the lot, I couldn't go into live mode (obviously, since there was no sim there) or build buy mode, only thing I could do was load to the neighborhood without saving.

Then I loaded the family up again and the teen girl was replaced with a random adult male townie with different name, aspiration and everything, he showed up on the father's family tree as well??? 

So I just ragequit and came to bed. I'm a bit bummed now. I love this game.
