Unable to Type Boxes to Create Families, Towns, Etc. - The Updated Sims 2

Since the update, I'm unable to create a family, name a baby, change a home name, create a new world, etc.  Whenever i try to type anything in the naming box, it just dings.

    Hi all,

    This issue was resolved in today's patch:

    • It is possible for the keyboard to lose input focus and prevent the player from entering text

     

    If you're still experiencing this issue, please create a new thread so we can investigate into this further.

    Same here, just bought the game. There are now several threads about this problem. Hopefully it will be sorted out, soon!

    Update:  I did a game "repair" and I can now play it.  However, the only way to use the windows scroll is to hold down the right button on my mouse.

    An update to the update:  A game "repair" does correct the problem.  However, I have to do a game repair every time before I play.  If I don't the same issue happens.  Yesterday I had to do the game repair twice, before the issue was corrected.
