What does sims 2 have that is lacking in sims 4

I'm a sims 2 fan but now I have sims 3 I find it hard to choose between the two. I also have sims 4 and a lot of the expansions but really find it lacking in something but can't work out what it is. I...

I have been playing the Sims 2 today for the first time in around eleven years and I can’t believe how much I have forgotten or just how much detail is in the Sims 2 compared to the Sims 4. Having my sims shop for clothes and groceries, cars, personalities and all the randomness. All the time I was playing I kept saying to myself... “oh I wish the Sims 4 had this or that”. I love both games but playing the Sims 2 really just reminded me how much is still missing from the Sims 4.
