What does sims 2 have that is lacking in sims 4

I forgot one detail in my long winded reply above. I left out the fact that when I save a neighborhood in Sims 2, it is exactly the same when I go back in the next time I want to play. There is no Story Progression or Neighborhood Progression in Sims 2. Sims in the Base Neighborhoods do not carry on their daily lives while I play a Young Adult in University, and vice versa (Young Adults in University do not carry on their college lives while I play the Base Neighborhood).
