Which are the essential mods for TS2?

It's been a while since I last played TS2, but when I got into my gameplay today I noticed some things that are really messed up. I have searched through my file to see if I could find the problem, only to discover that I have a major amount of CC and mods in my Downloads folder. So I decided to just take it all out. I know there are some mods I have that are essential, meaning they stop things that can cause corruption of the game, but I don't remember which ones do this. Does anyone know of a location I can go to that list essential mods for TS2?
  • This list is brilliant, strongly recommend. The first ones listed especially are something every Sims 2 player should have in their game as they can help avoid corruption. nounlinkondelete, ffsdebugger, nocorruptdeath, crumplefix and creaturefixes being of particular importance: http://modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=532696

And for me, personally, the Sim Manipulator is an essential, it may not be for you but you might want to have a look anyway: http://simmanipulator.forumotion.com/t7-download-the-sim-manipulator

  • Here's my list of essential mods including all the anti-corruption mods (plus some other non-essentials that are just fun): https://pleasantsims.com/sims-2-mods/

I think there is no essential mods, you can play a very long time without modding the game.... I did that until I wished to make the game a bit better and I use mods by now but that's not essential.

But there are some mods that prevent neighborhood corruption so that you have one less thing to worry about.

But short of mods that prevent corruption or whose sole purpose is to fix the more major glitches, I do feel that players should play mod free at first.

    1. So they know what the game is supposed to behave like. How can you tell if you have conflicting mods if you don't know what proper behavior is?
    2. With how sandbox this game is, the essential game play mods for one person will be different to the essential game play mods for another person.
    3. You don't know what about the game you want to change yet and you may end up changing something you love into something you like because you didn't know any better..

O I do agree . Coming back on corruption, it's more about what you should not do, or recovering what you did wrong, as avoiding with a mod. My first time I reach to play a really long time (weeks) with no problem, even I did what should not be done but I guess I was lucky. Playing the ultimate collection, I guess they are not that many bugs left, and there is enough to explore.

After these weeks, I wanted to make the game a bit more challenging , same time to make my Sims a bit more clever, to have more options.... It's a new game then but I don't regret the time spent without mods which can last long.

The thing is with Sims 2 the corruption is permanent. And the things that cause the corruption are still there even with the UC. They didn't fix any glitches so there are still plenty of bugs still around. Just made it easily installed on modern systems and came with the already existing patches already in place. EA also never came out and admitted that they had things in game that would cause neighborhood corruption either, yet it happens - this one is hard to QA due to the nature of how Sims 2 neighborhood corruption spreads.

And I like to think of the neighborhood corruption as a time bomb. Only there's no visible timer. So it could go off in 3 weeks or 30 years.

So yea, new players should install mods that can help prevent that corruption. Because it's incredibly hard to have to say goodbye to a neighborhood or have to spend several hours to days depending on how old the neighborhood is manually recreate the neighborhood in order to avoid corrupting the new neighborhood from the very beginning but not lose too much progress.

I also use lots of these mods and they're quite helpful in preventing corruption.
