We have a beach area like that with wooden docks, Gas tanks and a couple little outhouse size buildings for lobstermen to fill up there gas tanks, grab a big hot coffee or a candy bar - in what is called Biddeford Pool - it is where there are levys and such in different spots for all the lobster boats and such - you see a lot of empty docks when the boats are out lobstering for several days a week. When the boats all come in you can grab fresh lobster for great prices. My oldest son has a big lobster boat docked down there, but with out all the rigging as he just used it for taking friends out fishing - regular fishing as you can't just go lobstering - it is quite expensive. They also have a ton of rules - but yeah - that does remind me of parts of Biddeford Pool beyond all the docks. You can walk around that sandy area after the tide goes back out and grab those pinchy worms right below the surface that fishermen like. They bite though unlike regular worms and and have legs like multipedes. I recall they had a certain name - but for the life of me I can't recall it. But the beach in that area used to be called by that name by the locals. In New England the locals tend to call the different beach areas by either the neighborhood or by what ever is caught in each area. I honestly never saw these dark kind of beaches like that until I lived in New England - down in Florida they are white and the water is clear and beautiful. In NE it looks dank and has tons of Sea weed.
ETA... Oh and it is freaking freezing 24/7 all year round in New England. I never have figured out how people go swimming in these oceans - I turn blue just wading in it. But in Florida I could sit or swim in the water all day - it's almost bath water warm....
ETA -I did do one house - but not so sure I want to upload it - it is just a Florida garden house built from the Jimmy Walker Florida home plans - but looks so crappy besides all your work and every one elses. Plus it is not a dock type house. I think I should try something else.
