Crumpleton Village: A British World!

Note!

I hit my bandwidth on my photobucket account which means my screenshots aren't showing. It should be back soon. For now, you can see my screenshots in this slideshow: http://s249.photobucket.com/user/Cinderellimouse/slideshow/Crumpleton

Preliminary waffle:

*creeps in amongst the amazing world builders shyly*

Hi all! :D

I'm a big CAW addict, I love messing around with it and spend a large proportion of my sim-time world building. My biggest project is my 'everything' world, which I made purely for my own nefarious devices. I got a lot of requests asking me to share it and I really wanted to, but in the end I felt it was too big and laggy and used waaaaaaaay too much store content. So when I started my next project, I kept in mind the fact I wanted to upload it. I get so much from this community and I really want to give something back. :D

I'm still working on this world, this isn't exactly a 'finished' version (is a world ever truly 'finished'), but I did get each version to a point where it has all the basics you might need. As I start to play in the world myself and add or renovate buildings, I'll upload updated versions. :D

So, without further stereotypical British self-effacing, I give you...

Crumpleton

Versions!

I wanted to make this world as accessible as possible. So as I went along I created various versions of the world. You can choose which world is best for you, or even install them all as they have different WPID numbers! :D

This world was made to function with the rabbithole rugs and Zerbu's Ultimate Careers mod (although these are NOT required or included unless stated). So in all versions you will find some community lots set up as workplaces.

More details here soon!

In all versions there is plenty of space to expand. The Light versions include two empty 64x64 lots, and several smaller lots. In the descriptions of some of the lots I made suggestions for which store venues I had in mind for the space. However, you can feel free to make the world your own.

 All versions require all expansion packs and stuff packs (except Sweet Treats). Supernatural is essential as I used the content heavily, especially the trees.

 The Light versions only require Midnight Hollow Gold and Dragon Valley Standard from the Store. These are essential, as the content was used heavily.

 In the Complete versions I used a lot of store content. (listed below)

 The Complete Plus Mods version will require the rabbithole rugs. All the ones I used can be found at simsl3gacies.com. I will list the exact rugs here soon.

I added adapted lighting files based on Aurora Skies, but without an aurora.

There is an alternative lighting mod for Dragon Valley skies WITH an aurora here (just to be awkward  ).

Ahh! I didn't see the link here for the modded version, so didn't know it was up-silly me! I'm dl'ing it now and SO excited! Squee!! Thank you for bringing it to my attention that it was in your studio all along!
  • Ahh! All these beautiful Tudors! Now I miss Veronaville. Waaah!! Anyways, great job. You've got me hooked. I am very much one for the Britishy stuff. And I hear you on the store content ETC. I am not uploading the world I am working on because it is so store content/CC oriented.

    Awesome job. :D

They bonded over their joint affection for the written word!

I really like his hippy look. I might have to make myself a copy of him. :-)

I'm still setting up my own hood. I've added lots of extra sims from other worlds and kicked out all the blimmin' townies that keep moving in uninvited to fill the service roles.

Eventually I want to set it up so the simnapped sims fill the service roles. I think I can assign them with Master Controller. I think one of the Crumplebottom sisters might be a good bookseller! I need a librarian too. I got a sim who seemed perfect for the role, but I can't remember who right now.

I also need a couple to live in the Vicarage and run the church. I want one to be the Vicar and the partner to be an artist who paints landscapes, but I haven't found the right sims yet. :? Preferably I'd like an elderly couple.

Your world looks wonderful, Cinderelli. Looks like you've thought of everything! Very nice work.

You might already know this by now, but Twallan's Register mod will allow you to assign sims to the service roles. :-)

Also, does anyone know if Twallan's Careers Mod conflicts with Zerbu's career mod?

Yay!!! Hope you have fun! :D

I really thought one of the TS4 hoods would be a remake of Veronaville, we saw a screenshot of a world with Tudor buildings absolutely ages ago! But now it sounds like we're only getting two worlds, Oasis Springs and the garden one that I've forgotten the name of at the minute. I'm wondering where those Tudor buildings went? If they pulled out a world in order to sell it as premium or something I'm going to be forced to rant again.

Yeah, my other major world has waaaay too much content, it barely saves anymore! So I was very very strict with myself when using store content with Crumpleton.

Yes, thank you! I only just found this out actually. I knew it was possible but for some reason I thought it was under the career options of Master Controller. I just installed the register mod a couple of days ago.

Ultimate Careers does not conflict with Nraas Careers. Both Zerbu and I have played with both mods at the same time. UC was actually updated to support custom careers, there is an option to enable them at the City Hall. :D

I am just absolutely dying to try out this world! It looks absolutely magnificent! Unfortunately I'm still waiting to get the WoW set and the tea set. Keeping fingers crossed they go on sale soon!

Also would like to add, besides the toddler things from the one venue thing, are there any other Aurora Skies items that might be heavily used? I do plan on getting AS, but with it being a little more expensive, that one is going to take a little bit longer to get.

I don't think I used much from Aurora Skies actually. I saw the Old Mill was on the Daily Deal rotation with a HUGE discount. It was selling out very quickly but it might be worth keeping an eye out for it: http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/761252.page
  • Thanks for the info on the career mods! I'm looking forward to trying out your careers edition when it's finished. :-)
