My frenemy is what Ace calls "a frigid you-know-what." But he and I went through fashion design school together. His name's Dominic. He used to be a cool guy. Not that he's not kind of cool now but he's kind of rude sometimes. Kind of a copy-cat. Rides on the coattails of my success. Or just takes my success away from me. The thing about Dominic is that he's not nearly as creative as he thinks he is. So he offers to collab with me on something, and sure, why not? I'm probably running late with it and could use help. So he comes over to my studio with wine and takeout, and he and Ace stare each other down. The last time we collaborated, I found my patterns missing. All of them. Gone. I looked everywhere, and soon enough my design was being sold in a boutique downtown. Designer? Who do you think? And then he invited me out for coffee to apologize and celebrate his success. From stealing MY work. He offered to give me a cut of the money and that we'd be business partners. It was about that time that Ace kicked him in the junk and blacked his eye. Dominic still hangs out with me and he does help out with things. Just not if Ace is around....
