Petite Alsace collaboration - Open for participation!
Happy New Year and welcome to another Sims 3 community collaboration hosted by Hidehi2 , Sandraelle and soocoolsim ! Introducing Petite Alsace inspired by picturesque Strasbourg, Colmar and Ribeauville with a dual French and German blend of charming, flower-laden villages and half-timbered homes. We anticipate the completed world will be a lovely addition to your game. Experienced creators (Intermediate+) are invited to join us in creating builds to add to the base world. If you love decorating but building isn’t your forte, let us know and we'll try to build a shell for you. Everyone can experience Petite Alsace taking shape by downloading the base world and installing builds as they become available. Please keep an eye on the "News and Updates" post for milestones and links to new creations as they become available. Constructive comments throughout this event are also welcome, so don't be shy. Without further ado, onto the details below and come join in the fun! LOT LISTINGS Map A: Colmar (Medieval, half-timbered houses with flower-filled balconies) Map B: Ribeauville (Pastel, half-timbered 15th - 18th century houses) Map C: Ribeauville Outskirts (Farming area) Map D: Strasbourg (City area, mix of old and new buildings) Map E: Avenue du Rhin (Wine region) Map F: Route de Alsace (Rural area) CLAIMING OVERVIEW Download the empty Petite Alsace base world created by the talented Hidehi2. Take a look at the available lots using the Map posts as reference (see links above). Indicate you're on board and sign up for your first claim by replying on this thread with your chosen map lot reference # (eg A8). I will update the lists with claims and add download / media links when builds are completed. Every two weeks (around the 1st and 15th of the month) a new claiming period starting with a 'Claiming Day' post will begin. During this period, if you join the collaboration or have a build in progress on Claiming Day, you can claim 1 lot. For ongoing participants, if all previously claimed builds are completed and (no cc) download link(s) submitted by Claiming Day, you may claim up to 2 lots. BUILDING GUIDELINES Please stay within the theme of each map area and overall Alsace inspiration. You have creative freedom otherwise. Inspiration links at the top of this post may be helpful. All / any EA Expansion Packs, Stuff Packs and official Store Items can be used. Free EA Store Items are OK for use. Note: Some are no longer available for download so use at your discretion. NO third-party Custom Content is allowed. Please Custard Check your exported file before uploading to double check. We highly recommend play-testing your build before uploading to ensure no routing concerns and users can enjoy as intended. Do test placement of your final build. This helps identify any potential issues (e.g. windows / floor tiles out of place). To do this... export your build, save your game, delete the existing build, then replace with the exported version from your library. Take a careful look around and fix as needed. It will be useful for players if the Petite Alsace lot address is included in your build description on the Exchange, albeit optional. Do take the time to put your best foot forward to make your build(s) shine inside and out. Just be cautious about using a ton of clutter since that can add to lag when playing. Each build will be showcased with credit in video walkthroughs on YouTube once the world is completed. Once your build is available on the Sims 3 Exchange, please post a reply on this thread including: name of build / map reference and/or address / download link / cover picture / custard screenshot confirming no 3rd party custom content included. Optional! Link to additional picture site / thread. SIMS / HOUSEHOLDS This collaboration focuses on builds since the final world save file will be unpopulated, however we are happy to link to Sims / Households created for Petite Alsace. Petite Alsace builders can submit Sims / Households for their completed claims as well as Townie use. All / any EA Expansion Packs, Stuff Packs and official Store Items can be used. Free EA Store Items are OK for use. Note: Some are no longer available for download so use at your discretion. NO third-party Custom Content is allowed. Please Custard Check your exported file before uploading to double check. Once your Sim / Household is available on the Exchange, please post a reply on this thread including: name / map reference or address (or identify as Townie) / download link / 1 cover picture / custard screenshot confirming no 3rd party custom content included. Optional! Link to additional picture site / showcase thread. Looking forward to participation by the Sims 3 community! 😀 STORIES / VIDEOS Players may wish to enjoy this world as it evolves and we welcome links to any Petite Alsace story threads / blogs / media. My new video series - Perfect Genetics Challenge - is now available for viewing on YouTube. https://youtu.be/iQUhw5SbutM This video is a little over 16 minutes. It is an introduction to my founder, Olivia. We first meet her in Create a Household. We see her first home and job. She meets her man and they start getting to know each other. This challenge ought to be colourful. Not only does Olivia have blue, purple, pink and yellow hair but she has a very pale blue skin and pinkish purple eyes. The challenge requires her to produce an heir, male or female, who has the exact same hair and eye colour. Once the heir is confirmed, the mother will concentrate on living her life until the heir is old enough to take on the challenge. There is no upper limit to the number of babies she might have to produce before the heir arrives. Consequently I've set the age spans to be reasonably long but will use cake to age the family up as required. I plan to stop the mother from having more babies once it is confirmed the heir has been born. The heir will age up from toddler to child when they have done all of their toddler skills. And from Child to Teen after completing all of the child skills and getting onto the honour roll at school. The teen will age up to young adult after they have been to a prom and have learned fishing and cooking skills and read all of the fishing and recipe books. This means they'll need to get to level 7 in fishing and level 10 in cooking before I will let them age up to Young Adult. They may learn other skills along the way and need to be at least A Grade students. If they haven't learned the required skills and done the required reading within 105 days they'll age up automatically. When the heir is about the age up to Young Adult, hopefully the day before the teen is ready to age up to young adult, I'll age the parents up to Adult. The Adult life stage is also quite long just in case the mother automatically ages up to adult before she has produced the heir. The Elder life stage is also long. Babies will need grandparents around for a while. I may reduce the length of the Elder life stage at some point if the elders are accumulating. Moonlit Falls is full of supernaturals and I won't worry about when that population ages up. I'll be using EA Story Progression so if the town population ages up very slowly maybe there will still be sims around town by the time my founder's descendants start moving into the general townie population. All babies born to the founder and her heirs will have randomised traits with the one exception that each heir must have the dislikes children trait. There are no restrictions on how the main household earns their income. They can go out collecting, or gardening or whatever they choose. I will be getting them the no bills ever lifetime reward asap because I have a bad habit of forgetting about the bills and have difficulty working out what the repo man has taken. Due to the lack of restrictions on how they earn/come by their money the game will have many and varied activities in it throughout this challenge. One of the first wishes my founder got is to travel to Egypt to buy a recipe book. I do plan to grant that wish soon. Perhaps she can go there on her honeymoon. She has already met her man. I made him specially for her. She's blue with purple and blue hair, he's green with green hair and eyes. But their skin colouring is subtle. I think that about covers it. I hope you decide to watch. I'm keeping the length of these episodes to around 10 to 15 minutes each. Please consider subscribing if you are going to watch the videos as that way you'll know whenever a new episode is posted.4.1KViews6likes166CommentsChallenge: Rags to Riches
A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away... sims 1 and 2 existed ;) There was once two challenges in these games. The Sims 1 "pauper to prince" challenge: you start off on a vacant lot, build what you need to survive, save up enough money to eventually end up in the most expensive house in your neighborhood. The Sims 2 "Survival" challenge: you create a sim or sim family and place them on a lot which is essentially a park in appearance, take away all their money, and try to make them survive. I've seen both of them brought back for sims 3, I'd love to see how many of you can combine the challenges. I declare (I'm sure it's been proposed before on another forum) a challenge. The title of this challenge will be "Sims 3: Rags to Riches" the rules: you must make a sim or family and place them on a lot as described in the sims 2 challenge. The lot is just a basic park setup (toilets are allowed), with benches provided. use the sims testing cheat to remove all of the family funds. try to keep them alive, eventually finding a way to make money and move into the most expensive lot available. After the initial removing of the funds, no cheats are allowed. Post your stories on the exchange and post a reply here to let us know to go check it out. I'm interested to see what everyone comes up with and equally interested in seeing what lots, sims, and worlds are created from this. Happy Simming6KViews1like7CommentsRebuilding Appaloosa Plains - UPDATED Feb 4 2026
Hello fellow Simmers  I'm taking on the Build A City Challenge, using Appaloosa Plains and very few mods. As the town grows, you'll see different Sims' stories emerge. From the town's first community lot to each household and unlocked rabbit hole, watch the drama unfold as I rebuild Appaloosa Plains. I'll be posting previews of each chapter in this thread, with links to the full versions on my website. You can also follow along on Blogger and Archive of Our Own. Chapter List: Prologue Part One Part One begins with a community garden founded by Bridget Tevellyn -- a young Sim hoping to build a family away from the bustle of the city and the catty small towns she grew up in -- and shares the stories that arise as each new home and community lot are built. Chapter 1: Community Garden Chapter 2: Bridget's Cabin Chapter 3: The Tevellyn House Chapter 4: Cinnamon Crest Falls Chapter 5: The Boarding House / Community Garden Chapter 6: The Tevellyn House Chapter 7: Cinnamon Crest Falls / Rukiya's Lot Chapter 8: The Tevellyn House Chapter 9: Cinnamon Crest Falls Chapter 10: Rukiya's House Chapter 11: The Tevellyn House / Emery's Lot Chapter 12: Sims in Arms Training Outpost Chapter 13: The Tevellyn House Chapter 14: Emery's Studio Chapter 15: Cinnamon Crest Falls / Matthew's Lot Chapter 16: The Tevellyn House / Button Ranch Chapter 17: Champs Les Sims - Part One: Bienvenue - Part Two: L'amour Chapter 18: Rukiya's House Chapter 19: Cinnamon Crest Falls Chapter 20: The Tevellyn House Chapter 21: Button Ranch Chapter 22: The Tevellyn House Chapter 23: Emery's Studio Chapter 24: Button Ranch - coming soon Chapter 25: Harley House - coming soon Chapter 26: Rukiya's House - coming soon Chapter 27: The Tevellyn House / Ryker's Lot - coming soon Chapter 28: Champs Les Sims - coming soon Chapter 29: Ryker's House - coming soon Chapter 30: Button Ranch - coming soon Part Two The town will continue to grow alongside Bridget's grandchildren in Part Two, as new faces move in and more venues pop up.4.1KViews1like60CommentsThe Perfect Genetics Challenge
I finally got Episode 18 of Generation 2 of the Perfect Genetics Challenge loaded to YouTube and it is now available for you to watch. It loaded really fast too. My new internet connection has changed the load time for a 30 minute video from about 8 hours to about 10 minutes. https://youtu.be/77Vh65mSSPI The sims are in Vice City for the whole of this episode. We get to look around the world and into a few houses. I have bulldozed some lots in the world and placed some of my preferred venues in their place. I added a roller coaster that is available in my studio, the Porter Party Mini Warehouse from Showtime, The Elixir Consignment Store from Supernatural, Vaarg's Tavern from Supernatural, the Stones Throw Greenhouse from the Sims 3 Store and a wedding venue I built and it is not in my studio as it contains custom content. Olivia is the founder of this Perfect Genetics Challenge. Her husband, Don, has taken some of their grandchildren to Mountain Lake to visit their cousins. The cousins needed training, and they needed to turn their imaginary friends real, and they needed to age up. Four of the cousins aged up to Young Adult and there is no room in Mountain Lake for them to have their own homes so they need to move to a different world. Don took them to Vice City in the previous episode. In this episode we have a look around the world, see where I placed the venues and have a look inside some of the homes. Max is Don's alien son and he visits the roller coaster and throws a party at the Porter Party Mini Warehouse. The party is somewhat eventful as it is supposed to be a costume party but everyone got into the pool and had a great time swimming. A drowning was narrowly avoided and some of the guests became zombies during the party. But everyone went home happy and the party was awesome according to the majority of the guests. I popped into Paul's new house to see his new basement that contains his sculpting equipment. Paul is Max's imaginary friend made real. Paul has the Bot Fan trait. I found him sitting reading while in his Bot Form. I told him to change into his organic form. He turned into his Doll Form. After several attempts to use his menu to get him into his human form I finally told him to change into his everyday outfit and that fixed him. He was back into his human form. Then we go and have a look at Patricia's basement and this visit was uneventful. Then Don dialed up his travel provider and headed back to Mountain Lake. We will see him there is in the next episode. I hope you enjoy this video. Happy Simming1.3KViews4likes7CommentsA new Challenge: the Fusion Challenge
I had posted something similiar to carlsims3guide a way back and now i think there could be something similiar but with more rules. 1) go on Random.org and put the names of all 18 EA hoods on there, and randomize them. 2) Look at the randomized list. Take the first 5 neighborhoods in the randomized list. Use random.org again 5 times, to pick a sim from each of the first 5 neighborhoods. Move them together in the 6th neighborhood. This by saving them to the bin and moving them in an empty lot in the 6th neighborhood, and building a similiar house from there. If you want to keep past family or relationship ties to their former hoods you use nraas travelers or also move them in as observer households that are technically related to the fusion baby. You can still only randomize the hoods but pick specific sims from those hoods, or chose your hoods but pick randomized sims from there. 3) make a toddler or baby with similiarities to all 5 sims. Have the 5 sims raise said baby or toddler together until the baby or toddler turns into young adult. In the same chaotic house which will be a mix of the 5 original houses of the 5 original sims. 4) the sims are called sim1, sim2, sim3, sim4, sim5, based on how their original neighborhoods ended up in the randomized list. And from each sim they take specific traits: from sim1 they take their hair root color, eye shape, and one trait, and their voice type, and zodiac sign from sim2 they take their hair main color, nose shape, favorite food, second trait from sim3 they take their hair high light color, mouth shape, and third trait from sim4 they take their hair tips color, chin + ear shape, favorite music, and Fourth trait from sim5 they take their eye color, skin slider theyre in, and favorite color and fifth trait, and LTW place on the skin, fatness, muscle, muscle definition, eyelash, and voice slider are based on average, while supernatural status is based if any of the sim parents were one. Same for any hidden traits. Or skin details like freckles or moles. And the sim also wears the patterns of their parents’ clothing. You can even have the age be an average instead of having them raise the kid from toddler on. Gender is based on: if its all female Sims, 4 females and 1 male sim, you have the fusion be female. if its all male sims or 4 male and 1 female, you have the fusion be male. but if its 3 male 2 female the fusion is female, and if its 2 male 3 female the fusion is male. if more than one of the parents share a trait, favorite, LTW, or zodiac sign, that Wins. And if more than one parents is in the same skin slider or voice type that Wins too. And for the name of the fusion, the lenght of first and last names are the same as sim 3, but the letters of the first name comes from sim 1 and 2s names (can be from both their first and/or last names) and the letters of the last name come from sim 4 and 5s names (can be from both their first and/or last names) but you can technically put any names even ones that don’t really have anything to do with the previous sims, and you can even give everyone the same surname, which can be a fusion surname of the five surnames.59Views0likes0CommentsTiny Builds Christmas Village Showcase video released
EDIT! This challenge is closed. Thanks to participants and supporters. Below is the link to the showcase video. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone! Yay, excitement is in the air as we get closer to the holidays so let’s kick it up a notch with another tiny build challenge. For this theme, think of vintage / Victorian buildings similar to Lemax Caddington and Dickens village sets. Challenge criteria Create a Residential or Community build, and build as high or low as you wish, however the lot size cannot be larger than 10x10. Align your architecture, colours, textures and decor with the vintage / Victorian Christmas theme. If you plan to build based on a specific building from Lemax, Dickens or similar village sets, it would be great if you post a quick note in advance so we don't duplicate. * Include at least 3 objects from any of the free EA Store Happy Holiday Presents and / or Just for Pets collections. All EPs, SPs and official EA store content can be used, however no external 3rd party content please. You can Custard check your export file to double-check. More than one submission is fine, and links to sims or households created for your residential builds are welcome. No budget limit so let your imagination soar! When your creation is available on the Exchange, just reply here with the name of your build, the download link and up to 5 pictures including front view. You can link to additional media if desired. Submission deadline for inclusion in the showcase video: Dec 19, 2025 Extended to Dec 21, 2025 * Lemax / Dicken's village buildings taken so far: Partridge and Pear / Five Gold Rings / Antiquarian Bookseller Tips! Do play test your builds to ensure no routing issues. Don’t want to have those sims stomping and getting stuck right! Windows and flooring tiles can go wonky if placed too near the lot edges. Adding them at least 1 square away should work, however test your build by placing a copy elsewhere in the world. Take a look around to ensure all is fine and fix this and any floating tiles as needed before final export. Take screenshots in Live mode. That removes gridlines from view and looks more attractive. Hidehi’s Christmas Village created by Rflong7 is a pretty builders world for use with this challenge since it features snow covered terrain, however there's just one 10x10 lot. You can easily bulldoze the existing larger lots to add 10x10s using the in-game tool, however you can build in any world of your choosing. Looking forward to seeing your tiny Christmas creations! Rebecca Keller (New Arrival on the Way) When Rebecca figured out she was pregnant, a sudden rush of misery washed over her. It wasn't the thought having a child that bothered her, but the fact she was going to have to inform the father and her family. She didn't know exactly what the father would think, other than it would be mighty inconvenient considering his occupation and lifestyle. As far as her family was concerned, it would just be another reason to retread their previous disapproval with a new subject. Rebecca called the father with the news, and the call went a lot like she had expected. He struggled with the idea and had a hard time finding words, but Rebecca didn't fault him for that because she had just dropped a bomb on him. He assured her that he was a stand-up kind of guy, and she knew he was ... She just didn't think that was the appropriate way to handle their somewhat brief relationship. After about an hour-long conversation that consisted more of excruciatingly long pauses, interrupted by bursts of ideas and healthy dose of moral aptitude ... They both started to understand that the issue was something that couldn't be fixed right then or over the phone. Hasty decisions were what got them in this mess and were most likely not the solution out of it. Rebecca assured him that things would be okay with the child and that she was more than prepared to handle whatever was necessary. She promised him she would keep in touch and let him know what was happening ... But that he would have to settle for some photos or a video until they had a better chance to figure things out. The phone call with her parents didn't go much better, but to be honest she felt a lot easier during it than the previous one. Her parents, and her sister Marcy were going to think whatever they wanted to think and say whatever they felt the need to say, but none of it was their decision and she was only telling them as a courtesy. Following all the fairly uncomfortable events of the evening, Rebecca went to the one thing that always helped her find her way. She went downstairs, adjusted the settings on the weight machine, and started pumping iron. The cadence of the reps, her breathing ... They pushed back the anxiety as perspiration melted her frustrations. Rebecca started thinking about the child and what she wanted for it, as well as how she was preparing herself to 'Part the Red Sea' if necessary for the little one on the way. Everyone else could be whatever they felt the need to be ... But she was going to the rock that child's life would be built on ... No regrets and no turning back. Happy Simming ... 💖484Views5likes17CommentsTiny Builds Halloween Challenge

Our collaboration has been a success. Thank you to all participants! BAYOU BIJOU BASE WORLD (empty lots) This is a flat vanilla world created by Hidehi2 and is very loosely based on New Orleans or anywhere in the Louisiana Bayou country. Included are French Quarter, Garden and City Districts, Beach and Farming areas and two Bayous. The base world includes a mix of 93 empty residential and community lots. Since a fully loaded Bayou Bijou includes many highly detailed builds, we recommend you adjust your in-game settings lower for optimal gameplay. Download and install the empty base world Download and extract the world save file Place the extracted folder under .... \Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Saves before launching your game BACKGROUND (Edit! July 5/25 - The collab is complete. The following instructions are for reference only) Experienced creators (Intermediate+) are invited to join us in creating builds to add to this empty world. If building is not your forte, but you love decorating, just let us know. We'll try to match you with an appropriate builder to create a shell for you. Everyone can experience Bayou Bijou taking shape by downloading the empty base world and installing builds as they become available. Constructive comments throughout this process are welcome, so don't be shy. Please keep an eye on the "News and Updates" post for milestones and links to new creations as they become available. You can also check out in-game Bayou Bijou Stories and Sims from players / creators. Without further ado, onto the details below and come join in the fun! CLAIMING OVERVIEW Download the Bayou Bijou empty base world created by the talented Hidehi2. Take a look at the lists of available lots using the Map posts as reference (see links above). Indicate you're on board for the collab and sign up for your first claim by replying on this thread with your chosen map lot reference # (eg A8). I will update the lists with claims and add download / media links when builds are completed. Every two weeks (approx the 1st and 15th of the month) a new claiming period starting with a 'Claiming Day' post will begin. During this period, if you are now joining the collab or had a build in progress on Claiming Day, you can claim 1 lot. For ongoing participants, if all previously claimed builds are completed and link(s) submitted by Claiming Day, you may claim up to 2 lots. Edit! Effective Apr 15/25, after successfully uploading a completed cc-free build, participants may claim another lot if desired. However, max 2 claims in progress remains in place. Edit! Apr 17/25 - All lots Claimed. See the Map listings for links to completed builds. BUILDING GUIDELINES Please stay within the theme of each map area and general New Orleans, Louisiana inspiration. You have creative freedom otherwise. All Expansion Packs OK for use. All Stuff Packs OK for use. All official EA Store Items OK for use. Free EA Store Items OK for use. Note: Some are no longer available for download so use at your discretion. NO third-party Custom Content allowed. Please Custard Check your lot file before uploading to double check. We highly recommend you play-test your lot before uploading to ensure no routing concerns and downloaders can enjoy your build as intended. Another recommendation is to test placement of your final version. This helps identify any potential issues (windows/tiles out of place, etc). To do this... Export your build, save your game, delete the final version, then use the exported copy in the Library to add it back into the world. Take a look around to see if anything is amiss and correct as needed. It will be useful for players if the Bayou Bijou lot address is included in your build description on the Exchange, albeit optional. Do take the time to put your best foot forward to make your build(s) shine inside and out. Just be cautious about using a ton of clutter since that can add to lag when playing. Each build will be showcased with credit in video walkthroughs on YouTube once the world is completed. Once your build is available on the Exchange, please post a reply on this thread including: Name of build / map reference and/or address / download link / cover picture / custard screenshot confirming no 3rd party custom content included. Optional! Link to additional picture site / thread. SIM / HOUSEHOLD SUBMISSIONS The focus of the collab is on builds as the final world game save will be unpopulated, however we can link to Sims / Households created for Bayou Bijou. Bayou Bijou builders can submit Sims / Households for their completed claims as well as general (eg Townie) use. Non-builders can submit Sims / Households for general (eg Townie) use. All Expansion Packs OK for use. All Stuff Packs OK for use. All official EA Store Items OK for use. Free EA Store Items OK for use.
