Continuation of Chapter 28
A few days later Bailey finally got the courage to take a pregnancy test. She had a strong feeling that she was pregnant, but worried about the feelings that would come from both directions after seeing the result. If she WASN'T pregnant, she would be sad at the thought of not being a mother yet and there were MANY thoughts and hopes about that already! If she WAS pregnant, sure she would be thrilled, but she felt super nervous. She wondered if she was really ready for a responsibility like that and...would Goodwin be excited? Would he want to marry her after the news? In her heart she knew he would, but there was always that fear of the worst happening. So, after doing what she needed to do and had her eyes closed tightly waiting for the result, she opened them to find...it was positive. She was pregnant! Holding her hand to her heart she began to cry. They were tears of joy and tears of worry. All she could think to do was pray that everything would work out the way she hoped it would. That it would work out for the best.
Of course the first person she wanted to tell was Goodwin, but since she already mentioned it to her father she called him first. Michael seemed genuinely happy for her in his tone of voice over the phone, but she could still sense that it seemed weird for him and Jenni to find out that she was carrying Goodwin's baby. After their phone conversation ended, she said another silent prayer asking God that her parents would be able to get over the awkward feeling and love and accept this baby as their grandchild. She then proceeded to call Derrick and Jade, but paused before hitting the green button. Her smile turned into a frown as she thought about her brother and his wife's long struggle with being able to have a child of their own. She had to figure out how to tell them the great news while at the same time being sensitive to their feelings. It was hard. I think I will wait on telling them, she thought, I just REALLY have to tell Goodwin about it NOW! So she called Goodwin instead and invited him over.
When Goodwin arrived, he noticed the Cow Plant gruff at him. "Hey now girl," he said to the cow plant, approaching it, "you know who I am." He rubbed the top of it's nose and found the cow plant sniffing him. "Oh I see," Goodwin said, "you are hungry aren't you?" The cow plant seemed to perk up after hearing that. "Ok. I'll have Bailey bring out a big fish for you to eat."

Once he knocked on Bailey's door and was invited inside he told Bailey, "I think your cow plant wanted to eat me! She needs a big fish pronto!"
"Oh dear!" Bailey cried, running to the fridge. "Sorry," she said back to Goodwin, "I've sort of been preoccupied and have forgotten to feed her."
Once she fed the cow plant, who devoured the large fish within a couple of seconds, Bailey apologized to it and rubbed it's nose. "So sorry about that," she whispered to it, "wish me luck as I tell Goodwin the news tonight."
After closing the door behind her, once she went inside, she saw that Goodwin had made himself comfortable on her couch and was watching TV.
"Is she okay now?" Goodwin asked Bailey.
"Yeah," Bailey replied, coming over and standing before him.
"Good. I mean, I wasn't too worried that she would eat me because we have become friends but man...I sure got a little nervous when she started sniffing at me." He shot a smile up at Bailey.
Bailey chuckled and paused for a few moments with her hands behind her back. Goodwin had dived right back into the TV show. "Goodwin," she began, "there's something I need to tell you."
Glancing up at her for a second and seeing her face expression, Goodwin knew he'd better turn off the TV and give her his full attention. He did so and stood up to face her. Bailey noticed he didn't seem worried and for some reason that made her feel good.
"What's up?" Goodwin asked her.
Bailey looked down and said, "Well, I have some news." Then she looked back up at him.
"What is it? Is it good news or bad news?"
"It's good news."
With a slightly relieved look on his face Goodwin said, "Well then let's hear it."
Bailey took in a breath and said, "Goodwin...I'm pregnant."
The look that appeared on Goodwin's face was classic. Jaw dropped and bug eyed. "Oh," was all he managed to say.

Bailey winced seeing his expression. "Are you okay?" she asked.
After hearing the question, Goodwin seemed to snap out of it. He closed his eyes for a second and opened them again asking, "You're pregnant?"
"Yes. I took a test this afternoon and it was positive."
Pausing Goodwin asked, "Is it mine?"
"Of course it is Goodwin!" Bailey nearly shouted out, "do you honestly think that I have been sleeping with someone else?"
"No, no," Goodwin calmed, "it's just that...Really?" he asked with a smile. "That's our baby in there?"

"Yes!" Bailey exclaimed with tears welling up in her eyes. "Ours."
Goodwin then picked Bailey up and swung her around in excitement. After carefully placing her down he kissed her.
"Oh Goodwin!" Bailey cried hugging him, "I'm so glad you're happy about it! I'm sorry I was just...so worried."
"Of course I'm happy," Goodwin said, still holding her tight, but then he frowned. "I can understand why you would be worried." He removed himself from her and looked into her eyes sadly.
Bailey would be lying if she told him she didn't think about the possibility of him getting scared or whatever his previous reason was and running out on her and the baby. She wasn't sure what to say while the two of them stood there in silence.
While looking down at the floor Goodwin said, "Bailey, I am a changed man."
"I know that," Bailey said, caressing his arm. "I always have."
"And," Goodwin continued with a determined look on his face, "I will never let you down! There's no way in heck that I am going to make the same mistakes again!" He rubbed Bailey's tiny belly and looked her straight in the eye with watery eyes. "I promise I will be here for you and the baby, through thick and thin. I can't promise that I will be the greatest dad, but I will sure as heck try!"
Bailey enveloped Goodwin tightly in her arms and kissed him passionately. "Oh Goodwin, Oh Goodwin," she kept saying, "thank you. I love you!"
"I love you too Bailey!"

A bit of time passed by and Goodwin had some big plans in the back of his mind. One of the things he needed to do in order to make those plans a reality was to kick out his ever contentious roommate. It was about time too. When Sinbad returned from work one day, Goodwin didn't hesitate to approach him and say, "Sinbad, look, I know we've had some good times and I will miss that, but...other times, for the most part, we would just butt heads about everything and fight and I'm sick of it! My life is changing and I can't have you here anymore. I want you out!"

Needless to say, Sinbad wasn't very happy about that.

For a while they fought over the ordeal, but finally Sinbad packed up his things, said a few last words and slammed the door behind him.
That night, Goodwin sat out on the back porch for a while thinking about all the changes he was going to make. He was nervous what the future was going to hold for him, but he embraced it and was going to make the best out of it no matter what.

The next semester of college was starting for Andrea in just a couple of days and to get away and collect her thoughts, she took her laundry to the laundromat.

Okay, she thought, letting out a breath, I HAVE to make things right this semester, especially with Daniel. Oh I do hope he doesn't hate me...
Once Bailey told Derrick and Jade she was pregnant, the news wouldn't stop popping up among the family. One morning, Sue couldn't hold her feelings back any longer. She approached the closest family member, who happened to be Tristan, and said, "I don't know if I can do this! I'm trying so hard to forget that my sister's boyfriend and baby daddy is my biological father but I just...CAN'T! The baby is going to be my niece or nephew, yet also be my sibling at the same time! It's just too weird!"
Tristan could empathize, but he didn't know what to tell her.

"Tristan, PLEASE say something! Anything to make me feel better about this!"
"Woah," Tristan said, with his hands up and stepping back. "You've got the wrong person to advise you on this! Why don't you talk to mom or dad?"
"I can't," Sue said sadly, "I'm trying to be strong for them." She paused and then clasped her fingers together begging, "Please Tristan! I need something here. I'm actually asking for your help."
Tristan sighed and pursed his lips while thinking. After a few minutes he said, "Sue, yes, this is a weird situation for all of us, especially for you. Yes, this baby will be your niece or nephew and brother or sister, but both of those terms, while different, mean a family member. You don't need to worry about those terms because either way the baby is a part of your family and you should treat it as such." He paused, studying Sue carefully. "Do you get what I am trying to say?" he added.
"I think so," Sue said.
"Honestly," Tristan continued, "don't you think it's better things turned out like this? This way your TWO families are coming together as ONE. It's a pretty cool thing if you ask me."
Sue stared at the wall beside Tristan and said, "Yeah...I guess so."

One day, Tay planned a surprise visit to see Molly and Shawn and boy were they surprised! Not just because of the fact that they were happy to see him but because Tay looked so different!
"Tay?" Molly asked dumbfounded, "Is that really you?"
Tay laughed. "Yes babe, it's me."
"Your ears! What happened?"
"Well, I finally saved up enough money to get an ear reduction!"
Molly held her hand to her mouth and chuckled a little while saying, "You didn't?"
"I sure did!" Tay exclaimed. "Before it seemed like the more I grew up the more my ears grew with me."

"I hated them! I got sick of being picked on because of them. Someday I want to get a real nice job and I didn't want to go into an interview looking the way I did."
"Oh Tay," Molly said, "you didn't look THAT bad! I always looked at them as a unique characteristic. Besides, I fell in love with you anyway."
Tay kissed her cheek and said, "I know and I'm SO glad you did, but...I was never going to gain the confidence I need to get a good job if I didn't get rid of those huge things!"
Molly smiled.
"Do you like my new look?" he asked.

While eyeing him for a bit, Molly said, "Yes" and gave him a big hug. His new look inspired her to get a new look herself, although hers only involved her hairstyle.

Once again Michael was asked to do a Free Vaccination Clinic. It was a drag, but at least more people showed up this time around. Things did get much more interesting when Jenni's mom showed up.
"Renee," Michael greeted, hesitantly. There was no way he would ever call her Mom.
"Michael," Renee greeted with a smile. "How are you?"

"Fine," Michael answered. He couldn't stand the way he knew she was looking at him. He raised his hands up in the air and said, "I can't do this anymore!"
Renee looked confused.
Finally, Michael approached her about the incident. "Did you honestly think I was going to have woohoo with you while I was engaged to your daughter? I mean, that is SICK! I can't stand this awkward feeling anymore when I see you! I need to know that you aren't still trying to pursue that."

A couple of people who overheard stared at them in curiosity.
That made Renee feel uneasy. "Michael dear," she said, "I was drunk that night. I didn't mean what I said."
Michael wasn't sure if he could believe her, especially when he felt she would flirt with him from time to time.
"I can't believe you are still bothered by that?"
"Well, yeah, I am!" Michael said, retrieving the shot, "and I would appreciate it if you would stop trying to come on to me all the time or you won't get to see your grandchildren!"
That certainly got Renee's attention. More so than the sharp poke of the needle!

Renee left the area without saying a word. When the time came for the Vaccination Clinic to end, one last person showed up. Michael had to do a double take because for a moment he thought he saw Bronwyn, but it was Silver Racket. Shark's mother. Another weird moment for Michael. As he approached her he said, "Good day Mrs. Racket."
"Same to you Dr. Holland," Silver answered, looking at him blankly.

"I almost didn't recognize you," Michael said. "Your new hairstyle is...nice."
"Thanks."
There were a few seconds of silence until Michael said, "I was truly sorry to hear about the death of your son. I can't imagine how hard it has been for you and your husband."
"Sure you were," Silver said looking away from him.
Sighing, Michael didn't say any more. He knew there was never going to be any peace between their two families and he wasn't going to argue with her over it. He just continued with his job and gave her the vaccination.

Renee left the area without saying a word. When the time came for the Vaccination Clinic to end, one last person showed up. Michael had to do a double take because for a moment he thought he saw Bronwyn, but it was Silver Racket. Shark's mother. Another weird moment for Michael. As he approached her he said, "Good day Mrs. Racket."
"Same to you Dr. Holland," Silver answered, looking at him blankly.

"I almost didn't recognize you," Michael said. "Your new hairstyle is...nice."
"Thanks."
There were a few seconds of silence until Michael said, "I was truly sorry to hear about the death of your son. I can't imagine how hard it has been for you and your husband."
"Sure you were," Silver said looking away from him.
Sighing, Michael didn't say any more. He knew there was never going to be any peace between their two families and he wasn't going to argue with her over it. He just continued with his job and gave her the vaccination.
