After a good night's sleep Jamie showers, changes, and eats a quick breakfast. He gets out his map and plots his day based on where the locals advised him to look for his remaining materials.

As he pedals around the countryside, the beauty captivates him. Jamie would love to come back for an extended visit in this charming country. He hopes Bekka would like to visit with him. He would love sharing this journey with her. Jamie looks at his watch and figures the time difference and will call her in an hour or so. He smiles broadly as he contemplates showing her the sights that he has seen and exploring with her.

He wonders if Bekka likes camping. He thinks camping on the banks of this river would be perfect with his love.

He is very fortunate and finds the last two items on his list. One was the common Bamboo butterfly and the other the rare Yellow Band Dart butterfly. He takes all the items back to his room and packs them carefully away. His phone call to Bekka was made and she is busy working on Damien's office. She texted him a few pictures of the work she has done so far. After hanging up he realizes he has a few hours before he meets with Lee. His flight home is not until later in the evening. He decides to do something he has always wanted to do.

Twenty minutes later Jamie is at Phoenix Martial Arts Academy. He chats with Al Pei while waiting for a trainer. Mr. Pei is not a trainer but is a martial arts enthusiast. He works as a Special Merchant providing goods and services to tourists who are exploring the tombs and gardens. Jamie started learning martial arts just prior to moving to Hidden Springs and has been so busy he was unable to keep up with his training. He decides to receive a lesson from the experts.

Jamie changes into his martial arts gear. He is a lowly white belt but hopes to improve his technique. His timing is poor with the training dummy, and he gets knocked around several times when he doesn’t duck quick enough. This is definitely harder than it looks. He gets some pointers from the trainers who are observing him and improves slightly. But not enough to prevent another hard hit.

His head is spinning, so he takes a break and watches Al Pei. He claps his hands enthusiastically watching his expertise. Al takes a break and Jamie compliments his technique. Al recommends a few books available at the local shop, and explains where to purchase a training dummy that can be sent to his home. Jamie appreciates that idea and will check with the shopkeeper. He showers and heads back to town to visit Lee and finalize plans for Lee’s trip in spring.

Jamie greets Lee with a courteous bow.
“I have much to advise you Jamison and am quite hungry. Let's go eat while we talk.”

Jamie is agreeable as the exercise made him hungry. It starts pouring down rain as they are eating. Luckily they are under an awning. Many tourists and locals are crowding under the awning, and it is too noisy for Lee and Jamie to talk. “When we finish, we will go to your hotel and find a place to talk privately.”

Lee has spent quite a bit of time meditating and studying the prophecy. “The meditation clears my mind and helps me focus. I wanted to make sense out of it. As you said it is unclear when you first read the words. I believe I understand what the Fates are telling us. Listening to your recording was most helpful. Will you play it again? Listen to her voice as well as the words. Hear her tone and when it changes.”

Jamie places his phone on the table and plays the recording again, tuning out the sounds around him and paying close attention to Layla’s voice.
“Do you hear the change?” Lee asks Jamie when the recording stops.
“It seemed her voice got more urgent when saying," ‘Winter still comes as death is assured.’

“That is what I hear as well! When does spring begin for your side of the world?” he questions Jamie.
“In two days.”
“I think we must make haste and I need to return with you. Do you have all that you came for? There is no time to lose.”
“Yes, I finished collecting earlier today. What do you mean, ‘no time to lose’?’
“If Mary goes back to the netherworld in spring, we will be unable to break the cycle until next year. She needs to go back as soon as possible before the spring equinox. The Fates through the oracle are advising us that winter is the time for death. Spring is the time for Mary to be reborn.”

Jamie looks extremely concerned. "So, if she ‘dies’ in spring she cannot be reborn later in spring?”
“Exactly!”
“Mary and Damien are not going to like this at all. They were hoping to avoid her leaving all together. But, it means we can disrupt the cycle, and she will return to Damien in spring. We can work on getting her made human again once we figure out the recipes we’ve discovered.”

“Grab your things and check out and meet me at my house. We will leave as soon as you arrive. I just need to pack a few things from my stores of supplies in case we need them.”
“The plane doesn’t leave until this evening.”
Lee looks shocked and exclaims, “We are not flying in that tin can death trap! Are you nuts? In this storm! I’m not ready to die yet, thank you very much. I’m a warlock and a high priest. We will teleport. I will lock on your memories and take us directly there.”
Jamie looks at him in amazement. "Can you teach me how to do that?"
Lee shrugs, "Probably not."
