I just picked up Monte Vista, and I've been having a blast with playing around it. Despite the fact that I had to tweak some lots (the pub, the art gallery, etc) I still love it!
I've been playing this one character I created, by the name of Amanda Whelzofh. She recently moved here from living with her parents for some time now. She has expensive tastes, but can't afford them and is having trouble keeping her job. She's out to look for a husband (or two) who can support her wallet. Her only enemy, their wives!
